Things turned out pretty well for us since we went on to play Penn State in January while you guys went on to play Nevada in Hawaii in a game that literally nobody watched. Let me know when Southern Miss gets to a major bowl or gets into the discussion for P5 inclusion.
But everybody watched us kick your undefeated azzzz in the C-USA championship game
We also understand: Only through good fortune and happenstance, you guys are located in a huge, crime ridden metro area, while we reside in what you consider "redneckville"----hence you DESERVE P5 discussion, and USM does not.
I applaud your recent success and hope you guys DO move up....but disparaging a fine program like USM, who "deserves" moving up as much as you do, makes you look silly and petty.

Whoa. Yes, UH fans can be absolutely insufferable. But the general swipe against the City of Houston is unnecessary. You still have conference partners who call the Bayou City home.

Wow only 51 posts an already a -11 reputation score, so just keep banging on that keyboard little man, because I bet you're a real douche bag in person as well.

I have close relatives in the purty town of Katy.....and San Antone is one of my favorite city's of all-time.....so I have no gripe with Tejas in general, nor Houston....I just feel like IF USM has to suffer thru all the stereotypes attributed to South Miss'ippi, I just figured I'd throw a few around also!

No offense really, my Rice amigo!
You could call the area around UH "crime ridden" and be correct though.

If markets were that important to our TV partners why is it, WKU, Marshall, and Southern Mississippi have most of the TV slots and ODU, Rice, FIU and UTSA have next to none? Other than a couple OOC games that are against P5 schools. If you go back to last year it's really just WKU and Marshall. Not one of us is worth much (judging by the TV contract) but I think it's very clear that to Fox (last year) CBSS and ESPN the larger market teams in this conference means very little. If being in a larger market means more eyes then you would see ODU and Rice getting games on TV. So wouldn't that also be very clear to any other conference?
Welcome to the board youngster and the reason you see those kind of comments is because none of these people making them are worthy of making a decision of that magnitude and you know this is off season and well a message board so don't take them too serously. You are correct, Being in a large city is not the only thing to get more eyes watching but you got to have a competitive team on the field. Being in the market means nothing if you don't have resources, fan base or do not invest in athletics or stay mediocre for a very long time. Now if you can put some money in and put a competitive product on the field then i say those media markets can factor in.
