They'll never hear the end of it over there. Some of those AGS guys are cool, I've met many in person, but all-in-all if the topic of FBS football and conference realignment comes up that site is a cot-damn nut house.

If I'm ever feeling bad about TXST's position in college athletics I'll go visit that site, makes me feel all better. I don't get how some of those guys can be so bitter toward FBS football 01-wingedeagle

Sour grapes, I guess.

It's a Ralph thing.

Agreed! I'm honestly surprised that FCS move = no more message board. Makes me wonder if it was closed down to make a statement as much as anything else.

Yep. I'm sure some kind of board will continue to exist but the people who started it and ran it for 15 years are quitting. They, like the rest of us, recognize the general apathy at the university and our almost utter powerlessness to do anything about it and are walking away.

15 years is a LONG time. I've ran my board since 1997 and jeez does it consume a lot of your life and energy.

While I wouldn't trade that experience for anything I'm getting to the point where I'm peeling back and letting my 19 year old son (a sophomore at Georgia Southern) get more involved in the day-to-day operations.

I probably thought seriously pulling the plug on it several times ... and if we ever got sent back to FCS that would probably be such a gut kick I'd probably hang it up as well.

Been it at for 20+ years or 7 football coaches and now there is never a week I don't consider whether I want to be running the site after the season ends, some days not sure I want to be running it when the day ends.

Massive time suck and if you affiliate with a national network the pressure is even greater. As an independent if I felt like goofing off for two weeks felt no obligation to the site users.

The only hope for that is if the current president gets fired or moves to a new job. Firing is pretty much an impossibility but the Idaho presidency has been a revolving door lately so it's not out of the question he finds some other gig.

So if any of you know of any job openings please forward them to chuckstaben@uidaho.edu. Knowing this board maybe something at LA Tech or Liberty?

But not as a Sun Belt affiliate, right?

Idaho would not have gone to FCS if the Sun Belt had renewed the affiliation agreement.

Seems everyone is lamenting Idaho's decision, but the majority on the board didn't want them as a part of the Sun Belt Football.

Idaho football as a FBS independent would be very tough indeed. Especially if the school felt there was not a long term home out there anywhere.

I had no issues with Idaho

Good - what Idaho needs is a lifeline from the Sun Belt, that only the Sun Belt Presidents can give.

Actually when this was discussed about 75% of the posters on this board wanted us to stick around for at least another 2-year extension. The actual school decisionmakers, not so much, and since they shrunk the per-team CFP payouts I can understand why.

I don't blame the Sun Belt for any of this. We made our own bed. The Sun Belt is one of the good guys in the FBS Idaho story.

Seems pretty obvious Idaho's president didn't want the Sun Belt.
No stadium expansion plans even when good cheap options exist.
A half ass presentation to get extended .
Announcing 14700 in attendance two years ago really three hundred away from the minimum .

Why not offer to take no conference revenue for the games.
Letting the SBC keep any ESPN3 money made from Vandal games.
It made sense for NMSU to try for a full membership but a plan B like this would have helped. No need to beg but when you are at a don't hold the cards you offer a deal that is better for the other party.

Yep. My stint with Rivalnet.com and Rivals.com from 1997-2001 was enough of the affiliate life for me 03-wink

Kudos to those who do it. Almost always it is a labor of love.

(BTW, starting on coach #7 this year 03-wink)
