Because UCF is the program everyone aspires to be. Despite 0-12, no one else in the conference has reached the combination of championships coupled with major bowl wins. Houston has proven to be the only other team in the conference to contend with their title and major bowl win last season.

Cincy is a perennial 9 game winner. Enough wins to consider yourself a winning program, but not enough to get over the hump. Memphis... well... is Memphis. They've had one great season in the history of their program then their coach bolted for a bigger job. Navy is consistently good but like Cincy, has failed to get over the hump. The rest are the rest for a reason. Very few to no titles.

Despite 0-12, ESPN named UCF the #1 job in the G5.

Despite 0-12, ESPN ranked UCF the #5 school in the G5 for this season without even playing one game.

Like I said before, our numerous division titles, conference championships, and the Fiesta Bowl win did wonders for us. Only Boise State and UCF won BCS bowls in the BCS era while outside of the power conferences. Those people who say we only got it because we were in an AQ conference fail to realize that we were the highest ranked team regardless and would've been in a BCS bowl with or without AQ. Houston won the Peach Bowl last year and deserves a seat at the table of the elite. Until any school outside of Boise State, UCF, and Houston proves they can match up with the big guns on the gridiron on the biggest of stages and with the eyes of the world watching, they are just looking up at us three.

This is exactly why any transgression that happens to any of those three schools will be magnified tremendously by those who wish their programs were at the same level.

That is why people get worked up about UCF. Just do like I do. Embrace it. Love it. Be flattered by it.

We are a little accustomed to winning championships, but no I doubt think 2016 will be our year. Getting bowl eligible is a good baby step.

you're also accustomed to going 0-12 snicker

That does seem to be why so many fans from other teams are spending so much time talking about UCF...because even after sinking to the bottom after probation/sanctions...those fans (along with seemingly everyone in the media) that UCF has the commitment and plan to get back up to the top once again.

Its great to be talked about (by media and fans) as there are scores of programs that are basically an after-thought...regardless how good/bad their record is from year to year.

RE: How I envision UCF looks at this season after last season
At this point of the preseason, I look at potential point spreads. For UCF 2016:

Should win (favored by 4 or more points)
SC State
Tulane

Could win (favored by 3 to 3 point dog)
FIU
UConn
ECU
Tulsa
Cincinnati

Should lose (4 point or more dog)
Mich
MD
Temple
Houston
USF

Win the 2 favored, win 3 of the middle 5 and steal one from the bottom, could be 6 wins for UCF this year.

At least twice that i know of. They may have gone 0-12 three times, but that may be incorrect.

UMMM, I think you are rather optimistic. Frost is totally changing the entire offense and defense. This from a team that was 2nd to last in the entire FBS. Its gonna take time before they are better.

You are right in the "should lose" section, but you missed a few. Cinci will be the better team. They are favored and Ill take Uconn. Uconn was on a massive upswing last year toward the end. Their defense has gotten much better and I dont see UCF getting through their offensive line, which may be the best in the AAC next year. Its gonna be a low scoring painful game to watch but Ill add those 2 to the lose category.... and I highly suspect Tulsa is gonna give them a scare.

Ive got UCF going 4-8 at best and possibly 3-9.

We'll see. I have it at 5-7, maybe 6-6. The CSF offensive scheme isn't difficult to learn, but it does require the right type of player, especially at QB. I don't think Holman is that guy, so QB is a huge question mark this year. Anyways, good luck to USF.

Glad you didnt take it as a dig at your program. It wasnt. We at USF are alllll too aware of how changing schemes can take a couple years for it to set in. Getting the right personnel is key and i agree, Holman isnt your prototypical Oregon offense QB. Ironic part is, Flowers would be much better at it.

At least twice that i know of. They may have gone 0-12 three times, but that may be incorrect.

You're correct, 3x in the history of our school's program.

1982 was a D-3 team that was transitioning to D-2 playing a schedule made up mostly of teams classifying into 1-AA. Not really worried about that having any meaning at all. Again, if we had played Memphis that year, they'd have another win against us after all.

Which would a fraction of the effort you've put into being an ass towards UCF. Just find something else to focus on.
