Buddy had some famous line. Remember him calling Kevin Gilbrights offense "chuck and duck"

RE: Buddy Ryan RIP
the '85 Bears team, especially the defense, was probably the single most dominant NFL team in a particular year

The NFC playoffs - the Rams and Giants were held scoreless

The Pats got an early FG and a TD but gave up 45

Never seen anything like that team before or since

The man was a genius...but a sore winner/loser. That 85 Bears defense was ferocious...among the best in the NFL.

I was in attendance at that game, but didn't see the punch. I didn't find out about it til I got home and saw it on tv. Obviously they did not show it on the astrodome Jumbotron.

I doubt it. The DBs can't touch the receivers now

RE: Buddy Ryan RIP
Seems as if Buddy has Tennessee ties just like Pat

"James David Ryan was a Korean War veteran who went to Oklahoma State, then earned a master's degree from Middle Tennessee State even while coaching. He got his first major job in the pros in New York, then of the AFL, in 1968. Ryan was the linebackers coach for the Joe Namath-led Jets, a boastful, confident team that fit his personality.

He was a hard-charging football coach - who promoted dirty play and vendettas.
