Stetson might just be the offensive surprise this season.
Coach Beard declared him the best defensive player on the team. He just needs a chance and the confidence to take more shots. I recall one game he came in and scored five points in about a minute, and Steve took him out. I ran into Joe Kleine some time after that and asked him about it. He didn't want to criticize Steve, so he just rolled his eyes, as if to say, if it had been up to him, he wouldn't have pulled Stetson out of the game. I like a coach who will continue to go with a hot hand. I hate it when a player is hot, and the coach sits him down for a long time, and then he's lost his rhythm. Great coaches know when and when not to keep a player in the game. Let's hope Wes has that ability.04-cheers

Stetson could still improve offensively. And a few more points a game out of him would be a help. But that is not his role on this team. He is a NO man, not a YES man. "No, you are not going to score."

There should never be a player on the court who can't score. Everyone should be able to play defense, and every one should be able to shoot the basketball, IMHO.

He can score. He is just not as good at scoring as some other players, so you want your best scorers taking most of your shots. Just like you want Stetson defending the other guys' best scorer. I agree players need to be well-rounded, but it is not logical to think they are all going to be exactly the same. And I don't want my 7-footers standing around the 3-point line jacking up long shots, even if they can make a few of them.
