We'd better not schedule an away game at South Carolina for the next 4 years.

Paulus is the only one I could think of. Lambiotte probably would have been, but they probably didn't rate them like that back then. What was Reeves, 3 star?

And JMU just picked up South Carolina's qb--Connor Mitch. I wonder what's going on down there.

New head coach. Muschamp was allergic to offense at Florida so it isn't completely shocking that players on offense might want to get away from him.

An offer from Ohio St as a Freshman isn't too shabby! Welcome Jalen!

Daily Press this morning quotes Jalen as "very excited to attend W&M" because "it's close to my grandparents who live in Newport News and W&M is a great academic school with a rich tradition".

Anytime we land a player recruited and offered by Ohio State, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech plus 14 other
Power Five universities we're doing something right!

This upcoming Tribe team may very well be one of Jimmye's best offensive squads.

We are indeed fortunate to have Jalen join the Tribe. I noticed in his bio that he played WR, DB and returned kicks in HS. Has there been any mention of where he will fit into the Tribe scheme? I think we all assume WR and KR. Is there a possibility that he might be seen on the other side of the ball?

...and we keep bringing in talent to back fill those who leave. We've been talking a lot about how Shaver is getting better players, but I think the football team is doing so also.

Bottom line is that we play really good football in the CAA and as a conference we put more players in the NFL than ever before. It is becoming the landing spot for a lot of FCS transfers.

If we weren't already deep at CB I imagine that might have been a possibility. I'm envisioning he and Dedmon on opposite sides. Read the safety and let it fly!

I like your vision! That would certainly open up a lot of other options as well, which has been mentioned.

I'm envisioning 42+ points a game on offense and hoping for less than 24 points per game for the defense. It would be nice to have a +200 margin in an 11 game regular season. Koolaid, Koolaid, where's the Koolaid?

Nice to focus on the passing potentials, but with that dream configuration, it should really open up the running game for Anderson et al.....

Anderson, Funderburke, Britt, Dunn and the receiving unit will compliment each other and create match up nightmares for opposing DC's. Your right Anderson should have a great year. You go four wide with Dedmon, Armstrong (or Hart) say on one side, Christian, Kuzjak on the other or throw Caskins in for one of them. That will certainly create mismatches.

Wow, one player and we'll score 42+ points a game. If so, we'll probably go 10-1 in the regular season and seriously contend for a game in Frisco.

Injuries, especially for smaller speedy players, can throw a big monkey wrench in formulas.

If our offense can stay healthy, this can be a dynamic group but I'm not sure one player--other than a great QB--can improve an offense by 2 TDs/game.

RE: South Carolina WR Jalen Christian Transferring to W&M
One player will not make a 2 TD difference obviously. Injuries do make a big difference and are an unknown, so I haven'i taken them into account.

Last year despite several injuries to the O, The Tribe averaged 31/ppg and 411/ypg both which were top 10 in Tribe history, so let's reduce Points increased from 14 to 11 points to start with.

I'm hoping that having a 3rd year starter @ QB will add points. He'll be playing behind an experienced line with a line coach adept at developing players and juggling lineups as this is where a lot of injuries occur, which is usually where a productive O begins.

We are returning 2 excellent RB's with a combo of speed and power, one of whom was the conferences 2nd leading rusher despite not starting the first 3 games. We add to this 2 talented rFr who are capable of great things.

For receivers the new player is being added to 4 experienced and talented WR's and 2 experienced and talented TE's.

Special teams return an all American kicker, the leading CAA punter, and the CAA special teams player of the year @ PR/KR to which we add another 2 options.

Add to this 15 talented redshirt freshmen on O and 7 talented true frosh, several of which are capable of great things as the talent level continues to rise.

These guys will be led by an OC that is extremely good and now as he starts his 4th year here has both players recruited for and familiar with his system.

So, no 42 points is not based on one player. And yes, injuries do tend to hamper smaller, speedier players more. I'm expecting now not just to have one of these (Dedmon) as we did last year, but 3 with the addition of Christian and Britt which can help minimize the injury impact and still maintain the big play potential.

My worry is the defense...

All we need is for the offense to carry us through the first half of the season while the defense gets its legs and finds its identity, hopefully gelling and peaking for the home stretch.

RE: South Carolina WR Jalen Christian Transferring to W&M
For the regular season, if the offense is a scoring machine like Jimmye's teams from the 90's, I'm not worried about the defense.

For the playoffs, there will come a game where the defense will need to step up. They have the entire regular season to get ready for that.

And once again, like practically every summer in Jimmye's tenure, we look forward to a football season full of potential. Not many college fans can say that about a program, and a coach, over the last 36 years. Quite remarkable!
