My sister has FTD, a very aggressive form of dementia that affects younger adults.
She will probably not live to see 60. She is younger than me. Very sad.

Prayers sent; horrible for any family to deal with.

Sorry to hear about that too. My mom lost 4 siblings to Alzheimer's disease and my dad his own father. It and dementia in general are insidious.

Prayers for Pat Summit and all those who suffer from this disease.

On a related note: Go to you tube and listen to Glen Campbell's last recorded song - "I'm Not Gonna Miss You." It is haunting. For those that don't know, he has late stage Alzheimer's and lives in a special facility outside Nashville, I believe.

I know that cancer and its many forms is nothing to take lightly but I imagine dementia to be my own personal hell.

There is an excellent documentary on Glen Canpbell's struggle called 'I'll Be Me". It is still be available on Netflix. Excellent show.

I can't imagine and I've spoken with a lot of people that have been affected by this horrible disease.

That's a beautiful and haunting song for sure.

A very sad disease. While not a UT fan, I was a Pat Summit fan. She was a truly gifted coach and a special person. I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer's, back when it wasn't discussed much. As a young kid, all I remember is I wasn't allowed to see him anymore.

Pat Summitt was one of our great opponents. The Lady Vols would play the Lady Tigers annually. She had a nationally dominant program but wasn't too big Head'ed (pun intended) to play our team in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. She is also a native Tennessean.

As she goes through this, she's an honorary Tiger.

Well, I was at a game probably about 18 or so years ago when one of Joye Lee's teams gave them a run for their money at the Fieldhouse. Vols up 6 with 6 minutes to go. Crowd was crazy. We lost by 35. She said she would never play in that building again. Did she cave?
That Vol team had the best full court press I have ever seen at any level, men's or women's.

You're that concerned? I mean c'mon. There's been like the same five threads for a month now. I think this thread is as much about Tiger fans who have loved ones with this terrible disease. Myself included.
