Independence Day Resurgence
I was a huge fan of ID4. So seeing Independence Day Resurgence was simply disappointing. It's not a bad movie per sie, and the story isn't exactly like the first one, but all the new tricks fell flat. All the emotional tugs felt forced. The "speech" was blah.

It's like lightning struck in 1996, but this time they just didn't have it.

RE: Independence Day Resurgence
Yeah, I figured. I remember going to the first one. It was a HUGE movie event back then. It basically launched Will Smith into super stardom. The first one holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. I got so hyped at the end of Bill Pullman's speech. I'll still go see the second one but it won't be the same.

It was a good use of 2 hours on a brutally hot day. Pretty lousy movie though. Jurassic World did the sequel/reboot (requel?) thing much more effectively.

RE: Independence Day Resurgence
it felt like Roland Emmerich was trying to make Independence Day meets Starship Troopers...I give it a 5.5 out of 10.

as someone said, it was a decent waste of 2 hours...and Jurassic World did a far better reboot.

RE: Independence Day Resurgence
Let's be honest. The first Independence Day was cheesy as hell and Roland Emmerich makes ****** movies. That said I went and saw Independence Day Resurgence and it was definitely worse than the original. The only new character who I gave a **** about was the African warlord guy. They could've killed off the rest of the new characters and the film wouldn't have suffered one iota.
