RE: The Gray Avenger
BlueHomer, you and your family are in my prayers - losing a loved one unexpectedly is very tough.

I must say, my eyes would start to sweat every time I would open this thread at work today and read the glowing and heartfelt responses. I wanted to post my thoughts but cannot from work. I surely hope that these accolades are a small comfort to the family or Mr. Burrage.

Gray Avenger was quite a character on the board, and I always enjoyed his posts for his steadfast and unwavering support for everything Tigers related. For that, he will definitely be missed.

RIP GA. You've got the best seat in the house to watch over all things Memphis going forward.

RE: The Gray Avenger
I never met The Gray Avenger but reading of this news today made me incredibly sad. When reading his posts you never had a ounce of doubt about how much he loved the University of Memphis. If we all had that passion we would probably be sitting pretty. He always wanted the best for his school. It won't be the same on this board with out him. I always enjoyed reading his posts and never wavering in what he believed was right.

RIP Gray Avenger

RE: The Gray Avenger
I've been fortunate to have known Mr. Burrage and his daughter and son in law for several years. I've known his son since our college days and we are co workers. I had the honor of riding to Jonesboro with them in CJF's first year. He has always been an absolute class act and gentleman. We didn't always agree on certain issues but he always respected the opinion of others and didn't let differences change the way he treated people. He was an absolute southern gentleman and I'm proud to have known him. The world and Tiger Nation lost one of the best yesterday. God Bless, GA.

RE: The Gray Avenger
There was the "Gray Avenger" and there was Ronnie. I sat with Ronnie at a number of Tiger baseball games when I had time to go. Ronnie was one of the most well read, intelligent, thoughtful people one would ever meet. More than anything, Ronnie loved his family and would talk about how proud he was of each of them.

A fine man.

RE: The Gray Avenger
How can this be? You say his heart gave out. His heart could never give out! He had more heart and passion than most people you could ever meet, and he had the strength of his convictions to keep saying what he believed. I nearly always agreed with him. Tradition is important. I counted him as a special and dear friend, although I never met him. I really regret that.

Today there is a void on this board. Posters came and went, but GA was always a constant. I hope we will have a moment of silence for Ronnie at the first HH meeting this year. And I will raise a glass in his honor tomorrow. Hugs to you all. Your dad was one fine fellow. And he did look like Sean Connery, a very handsome man.

Rest in peace Gray Avenger. I didn't know him personally but I did enjoy his post. I just hope the Tigers wear the correct shade of blue and gray in memory of him.

RE: The Gray Avenger
"Fight Like Tigers" I met GA at a HH meeting a couple of years ago and immediately could see his passion for everything Memphis Tigers. I said to him, GA, if we had 50,000 fans like you we'd definitely be in a major conference (he hated the term P5) by now. I'll never forget his response. "50,000 hell, if we had 59,000 it'd only leave a thousand or so tickets for the opposing fans". He was definitely one of a kind and when it came to his beloved Tigers, his pride and passion had no equal. GA will be greatly missed on this board and as a fan and supporter of the University. Prayers for his family. Rest In Peace GA.
