I know you are an Army vet. Notice how I used clever word play when I said for an old guy you remind of a guy who doesn't get out much...

Cheers!

In this day and age...it either church, work or the gym...usually makes a couple of NFL Games a year for myself...Cleveland with my father-(he a huge Browns Fan) and another one with co-workers.

That's cool...I'm on the road constantly, but I'm a traveling salesman so it's not doing the things I like. Been all over this great country because of the Army and I've also been able to go to college athletic events all over the country. My brother was in Louisville last week and took pictures of Ali's memorial. We are giant Ali (The Louisville Lip) fans. It looked nice in your part of the woods.....

Cheers!

The new board was announced, and as expected, it's full of diehard UofL supporters...

Still not sure if the move by Governor Bevins is Constitutional BUT I approve of the appointees...All Strong in the Community and Louisville ppl...outside of Doug Cobb..geez

Their ranks include affluent business executives – among them, Papa John’s founder John Schnatter – as well as entrepreneur Doug Cobb, who has recently denied mainstream science on climate change, cast doubts on evolution and said that being gay and Christian are incompatible.

Four of the appointees are Democrats, three are Republicans and two are independents. The party registration of the 10th, Nitin Sahney -- who was CEO of Omnicare Inc., a Fortune 500 pharmacy services company sold to CVS last year for $12.7 billion -- could not be immediately determined.

Four of the trustees attend or have attended Southeast Christian Church, the evangelical megachurch that Bevin also attends.

Three are African-American – Bonita Black, Dr. Ronald Wright and Ulysses “Junior” Bridgeman – all of whom Bevin had already appointed to an interim board.

In a statement, Bevin said the appointments mark the “dawning of a new day for the University of Louisville” and called his selections a “diverse group of individuals who would be qualified to sit on any postsecondary board in America.”

THIS tidbit, is getting scant attention, but needs more.

The sole purpose of the Kentucky Retirement Systems board is to (hell, I'll just copy and paste from their website): The mission of Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS) is to build the strength of the trust funds to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet all obligations, while helping members and beneficiaries achieve financial security in retirement.

If that is truly their mission, they have been failing BADLY.

The pension crisis the state of Kentucky is facing is potentially crippling, and it's impact could make the budget cuts that have been implemented on the state's universities the past several years look like nothing, if this crisis isn't fixed.

There probably should be some serious shake-ups with that board too.

The pension crisis, and mis-management of state funds is one of the main reasons why Bevin got elected in the first place. (I'd say the other is the massive dissatisfaction with Kynect, Kentucky's Obamacare health care exchange, which has been mostly a disaster, and a financial albatross hanging off the neck of an already cash strapped state).

It's refreshing to see actual LEADERSHIP coming from Frankfort. SOMETHING is being tried, at least, to change the course the state is on. It may not work. But at least there's visible movement on these issues. I honestly never expected this from Bevin.

Since coal is almost dead i guess frankfort needed somebody new to bother.

What is Memphis doing for money since Elvis isn't making new music any longer ?
