Stop Windows 7 & 8 from SPYING on you (like Windows 10)
Apparently Microsoft has introduced updates into Windows 7 & 8 computers that gives them the same spying abilities in those operating systems that they enjoy on Windows 10 user's machines now.
This is how you can prevent that from happening.

Right click your Start button...and run Command Prompt (with Administrator Privileges)

Then you can merely COPY these lines below...and paste them into the Command prompt to remove these Microsoft Updates (press ENTER after you have pasted the line)

wusa /uninstall /kb:3068708 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3022345 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3075249 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3080149 /quiet /norestart

That's it.....you're now free again from Microsoft's clutches (for now anyway)

Glenn

Aight, so when you say spying, you mean keeping up with what you do online? If that's it, i'm really not that worried about it. Or do you mean hijacking the camera and audio on my laptop to spy on people?

I've always kept a piece of black duct tape on my laptop camera when not in use just in case, because one tech-savvy friend told me he could hack cameras if he wanted to. Everyone one else would see the black duct tape on my laptop and say i was crazy, but i felt justified after the ms teen usa spy issue back a few years back.

RE: Stop Windows 7 & 8 from SPYING on you (like Windows 10)
So i've got this 2-3 year old laptop running windows 7, and i want to keep using it as long as possible. Ever since the "forced" windows 10 update which i have avoided, i haven't received any windows updates at all. I'm thinking i probably won't ever get one until i go with wins 10. Before all this started, i had the settings on auto update. For at least the last month, i have it set to ask me before downloading an update. So far, i've not received any notices of an update nor am i sure how often i received updates in the past.

I've just started to shop for a new laptop. I've had mostly hp laptops and had the best luck with amd chips. Any suggestions are welcomed.

That's good. I still get that 'schedule your update' message that pops up every four or five days...the one that won't go away unless I just impose a mandatory shutdown.lol. It asks me to schedule time for the update.

I force shutdown and ignore the message to 'restore the session'.

This is a 2 year old running 7 and I have a new one running 8. I get my computer geek friend to pick mine out.

Earthbound knows more than he and I put together, tho.

you shuould still be getting updates to Windows 7. If you don't want 10, download Never 10 and use that to disable the upgrade and delete any downloaded files related to it. Not getting other Windows updates might be because Windows 10 is making Windows think it has to do that first.

RE: Stop Windows 7 & 8 from SPYING on you (like Windows 10)
if you already have Windows 10 on a computer...you can download "Windows 10 Antispy".
This will add a good number of blocks to your computer's hostfile and terminate services Microsoft uses to spy on folks with Windows 10.
In Windows 7 & 8 computers...I'm not quite sure how the updates (there are 4 of them for now) add spying functionality to those OSes...but for Windows 10...one of the main spying features is a keystroke monitor. Every key you type..they know about...they even know bout the dirty little websites you visit when no one else is looking.
The best option is to ditch Windows altogether and use something like Linux or BSD. Lot less spying going on there...and of course those OSes are less prone to acquiring Windows viruses. (Plus MOST of them are completely free to boot) I'm not saying that linux computers are virus proof...cuz they aren't...but they are overall more secure than their Windows counterparts.

Computers aren't for you to keep up with things. They are for "Them" to keep up with you.
