Yea, I think Jeff was a teammate of Ralph vs his coach.

And indeed this is the right question.

Have y'all watched this dude play? He's like Shaq-lite! He's going to be absolutely dominant in the paint, but like Shaq (and Porter and Stith) he'll struggle big time guarding out to the 3-pt line. I think overall he'll be an upgrade over Stith and will likely be a pretty solid replacement for Porter. After watching his video, I'm excited about the pick-up. Hopefully he arrives healthy and in shape.

Didn't you say Anton Larsen was going to be all conference or something. Your hyperbole is a bit much to swallow.

The dude may end up being a solid player for us, but you just compared a guy who couldn't get in the game for a crappy LSU team in 3 years to one of the greatest big men ever to play the game.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, some are comparing a former top 60 player that played on an SEC team to Anton Larson and Sam Harris.

At what point does a high school rating cease to be relevant?

It's irrelevant to me now, other than as a point of reference that at one time he had the goods. To me, this is all about him. There's a fabulous opportunity here to show his skills if he puts in the work and, yes, shows some leadership qualities. When's he come to campus? What's his offseason workout regimen going to be? Will he follow it diligently? Can they hook him up with someone like Trey Freeman? Can he work with ODU strength and conditioning? How hungry is he to prove himself?

Those are the questions I'd like to get answers to, and they'll tell a lot about this season's prospects.

I think there is one more big question. Can JJ figure out how to deal with a 7'1" center and actually be willing to play him.

What is different about playing him vs. a 6-10 Trey Porter?

Did the guy who spends all day saying we can use a 6”6 center if they are mobile and who believes in “positionless basketball” really just ask what the difference between an athletic 6”10 porter and a slow plodding 7”1 center is?????????????????????

One makes speeding up the game completely impossible, the other doesn’t, but sure, no difference at all! Lol

You are using the word “played” very loosely.

And Sam Harris will be all-Caa because he looked good in the blue white game lol.

Shaq-lite. Jesus dude, get a grip.

I said that if Sam Harris played all season like he did in an early game his Senior year he could average 7 pts and 7 reb for us. In true Razor Ramen form he made the claim I said he'd be All-CAA. When a lie is repeated enough, it becomes the truth. One universal truth on these boards, RR's claims about what other people say can't ever be trusted. He exaggerates everything.

As for the Shaq comparison, I can't help you out there. It'll take too long to teach the prerequisite skills to detect tone on the internet. I'm sure there's some videos on Reddit, though.

Given your history of player prognostication, there is zero reason not to believe you weren’t dead serious.

You also most absolutely said Sam Harris would be all CAA and you authored home court disadvantage.

Luckily the caazone no longer exists or I’d drop the post directly in your lap lol.

I've had ex-gfs less obsessed and more honest about what I've said in the past. The homecourt disadvantage line was coined by someone else who contorted what I said, as well. You're quoting another "crazy ex." Move on with your life.

Wrong. 1982-83 UVA team was coached by Terry H., Dave O., Jim L. and Jeff Jones. And Ralph Sampson was on that team.

This kid we landed is a beast and has substantial unfulfilled potential. I love an underdog story and hope he seizes this opportunity. I expect him to play to his potential and with a chip on his shoulder next year. Bring on vcu to the Ted now that we have some muscle in the paint.

Thinking for sure that I remembered watching them play together I was about to look that up myself. Thanks for doing the leg work on it.

Now that the facts are in ... Both statements are correct. Jeff was both a teammate and a member of the coaching staff during the time that Ralph Sampson was a player at UVA.

And yet it still has no relevance to whether JJ can fit Robinson into his rigid system that typically requires bigs to be fairly mobile and very active on the defensive end.

I’m sure we’re going to play more zone next year. The big question is how good is Kithcart. If he can shoot, then a heavy guard rotation with Caver, Kithcart, BJ, Godwin, and Robinson is going to be a nice option (+Wade). I don’t see that rotation being slow down the court.
