The Old Valley
The MVC is a very old conference. Many schools who are among the best programs in the nation now, were once in the MVC, but for a variety of reasons left the old league long ago including OU, KU, OSU, Nebraska etc. and of course TU, Houston, Cincy, Memphis, Lousiville and others.

Just a few factoids from the old days:

TU was in the MVC from 1935-1996 (61 years), but only one player is in the MVC HOF from TU - Steve Largent. Steve is in the PFBHOF, but we also have two others in the PFBHOF that aren't in the MVCHOF.

Some others in the MVCHOF are:
John Wooden who coached at indiana St (1946-48)
Oscar Robertson (Cincy)
Wes Unseld (Lousiville)
Henry Iba (OSU)
Walt Frazier (SIU)

OSU was in the MVC from 1925-1956, 31 years.
Wichita St has been in the conference from 1945-2016. 71 years.
Missouri St has been in the league since 1990, 26 years.

IMO its a good thing to schedule "old valley" whenever we can instead of any teams at their level (FCS/DI-AA) outside it. That includes FB and all other sports as long as they are a drivable distance for the fans.
