Why not market and sell online streams to season tickets holders along with tickets?
Why not market to season ticket holders to subscribe for a year of Monarch Media for 80 bucks. I'm sure there are around 4000-6000 fans out of 14,000 season ticket holders who will pony up money easily just to support. We could receive anywhere between 320k-480K just from this, much better than the TV money. Also I know there are few people who love to watch replays. Since CUSA will be taking over the broadcast, I'm guessing we will be able to watch all CUSA games with the same cost. If this is true, ODU marketing department needs to start calling people now regarding season tickets and sell this along with it.

Pros: Watch any ODU sports online (or CUSA if it happens)
Pros: If you can't make it to the game, watch it in your phone, tablet, computer.
Pros: Its only 80 Bucks (Cheap for big shots)
Pros: You loved the game? watch the replay again!

Cons: Some lazy dude will be at home and not attending the game?????

Edit: ODU first needs to change the video site and make it more lean and easy to find videos. Also Apps need to be easy to use.
There should be at least an 1 hour video of pregame broadcast repeated twice so a total of 2 hours with both coaches pregame media talk, highlights from last week, Some interviews with players, or something related to football so people can watch it while tailgating. WIfi needs to be free in tailgating areas because 4G is slow, so people can hook a TV and watch it while tailgating (or other CUSA games if its included).

Was joking around in class today about the stadium.
Somebody said that ODU should add a fee for Vet services or something paid by the GI Bill users. Charge $1000 a year or something. Use just a fraction of that for the service and divert the rest to the stadium. Would pay it off fast.

Lots of Vets at ODU. 10% of the student body are vets or related to one or something like that so 2500 +/-
I, like most vets in the class were not happy hearing that.

I can watch just about every basketball or football game without Monarch Media....why would I pay $80 for it?

Im talking about selling it to people with big pockets. $80 wont be much for them for an extra support. If you are talking about attending the game then I have posted the pros above. If you are talking about alternate sites then well this post isnt meant to sell it to you :)

What about the production cost? My understanding is the current deals are worth $9 million but $ 6 million in production cost is being covered by by two of the TV partners. The deal nets out at around $3 million or just a little over $200,000 per school.

If we develop our own production capabilities, that $500,000 infrastructure cost would have to be covered by us.

I am just not following the logic here.
Why would season ticket holders spend money on something they already paid money to watch in-person?

Yeah not sure I follow to be honest. But speaking of production costs I thought the spin coming from the TV deal was that ESPN would give the schools 6 million dollars to help with that?

I doubt they could do this even if they wanted to because the rights to most of the games are sold to whoever is broadcasting the events (ASN, ESPN3 etc). At least that was the explanation given to me when I complained about so few live events being available on MM.
