Was it ODU's game vs. NC State that WAS NOT televised recently? Guess the JMU NC State game is more viable from a TV viewership standpoint.

I believe you are thinking of ODU's hosting of UNCheat last year. No TV. Not even any "linear" TV. Rimshot I believe it was streamed live via Twitter.

I think neither were on a LINEAR channel. Careful. Don't tell Dukeman2.

The Towson road game has now been adjusted to a 2pm kickoff. The earlier the better that time of year when it’s getting colder.

The fact that they have to PAY to bring ODU to play them is hilarious. And over 1 million dollars too! That screams desperation. But they're FBS so I guess they're better than us now haha.

ODU was a special situation. It’s a home game against a FBS instate opponent which has never happened before. We also received about 7 games out of that one deal by shifting around the schedules to make that happen. Plus the fact we are going to get paid almost 3 million dollars between UVA and Auburn makes it a little easier to swallow. Was it a good look? No, but it allowed for a unique opportunity that I’m sure the majority of JMU fans would take if they had the opportunity.

With that last time announcement, the entire 2018 season of kickoff times is known. TV may adjust some kickoff times later.

THis one seems a little too far away geographically especially considering the contract is being signed 4 years in advance.
I’m not sure it benefits the program nearly as much as a game against ACC schools in JMU’s footprint. NC State, WVU, UNC, Maryland al make sense. Louisville not so much. Oh well, the ink is dry and JMU gets a chance to compete against an athletic department and University that has been in scandal for the last few years. Perhaps it al falls apart and JMU rolls in to put a nail in the coffin 4 years from now.

I’m guessing UVA and Va Tech are avoiding the Dukes. It will be at least a decade of playing neither team. Those matchups mean so much more for JMU’s program. C’mon Whit BAbcock. Are you skeered of your alma mater?

November 5th is pretty late in the season for a FBS game. Typically these are always in the first couple weeks of the season. Have we ever had a FBS game this late?

HCMH said at RVA tour stop that VA schools are all avoiding us. (FbS and FCS) Wouldn’t count on either UVA or VT anytime in the near future. Said philosophy moving forward will likely be to continue these regional P5 matches vs non VA schools. .

Norfolk State isn't avoiding us. So was he referring to Hampton and VMI, the only other non-CAA VA FCS programs? I doubt they'd dodge us and the money we'd pay them to come to the burg.

RE: Future FB Schedule (currently 2018-2022)
The reason why you're seeing more november FBS/FCS games is because TV networks are wanting more top tier P5 matchups in September and not later in the year. They're wanting to spread it out because viewers are B&M'ing about not having any good games to watch in the early weeks of the season when FCS games used to be scheduled.

It's going to become more of a norm unfortunately.

Many SEC teams play their FCS game later in the season.

This is correct. And, to expand on that thought, the ACC/ESPN opens their new ACC Network channel in a little over a year so starting with the 2019 FB season they definitely want better inventory in the first few weeks (read: conference games, though they won't necessarily end up on the ACC Network guaranteed).

RE: Future FB Schedule (currently 2018-2022)
The schools we're discussing here, VA Tech, UVA, ODU, Liberty, AAC, MAC, higher level FCS, etc... do not want to schedule JMU currently based on comments from Houston. That was the point of the post.

Personally, I don't give a darn about NSU, VMI, or Hampton so I have no idea if he was referring to them since I didn't ask.
