Is football really that important?
In fairness, I don't think he really said that. I think he said he was pre-occupied and unaware of the accusations... and/or trusted someone else to investigate them
I wouldn't expect Bailiff to stop doing the job he was paid to do and start doing one he wasn't. I'd expect him to answer what was asked of him honestly and let others do what they need to do.

It's uncorroborated, but the latest unsealed documents say otherwise...
Quote:"Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, 'I don't want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?'" the man's lawyer asked him in 2014.
"Specifically. Yes . . . I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted. . . I said, is that all you're going to do? You're not going to do anything else?"

And Penn St is in fight with their insurers who are refusing to pay the damages awarded to the victims. For once I am siding with an insurance company given the info that is available.

RE: Report: Art Briles out at Baylor
The scary item in the OKC paper article was that Baylor told the investigative law firm to only issue a verbal report. That explains why nothing was reported when a faction of the Baylor alums wanted to see "the entire report" and nothing was heard after that.

One of Baylor's starting OL arrested on a stalking charge. He's suspended from team for now. They only return one starter on the OL to begin with but he's probably their second most experienced OL?
I don't think we should get to excited by things like this. Ask yourself would Baylor's 2nd team lose to USM at home by 55?

Antarius - our esteemed athletic director, a PhD who came from a program we aspire to emulate, extended Bailiff's contract this year. What do you know that he doesn't know ? Clearly, judging by your post history, you are much more enlightened about Bailiff's talents as a HC than Kaarlgard is. How in your view could he have made such a move ? Do you feel he is just not as smart as you are ?

What extension is this? He was extended in 2014.

RE: Report: Art Briles out at Baylor
I'm not trying to get carried away here, but I have a feeling that Baylor is in for a rough season. I'm not saying they'll have losing record, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them fall off. So much is going on with them and their players are dropping like flies. I'm also not confident in Grobe. I don't think he has a handle on things. He reminds of a guy who's going 40 mph on a 70 mph road. Everything must be swirling. It doesn't look like a good situation.

Makes me wonder just how long of a leash Grobe has.

He is in place to take the heat when Baylor stumbles. I agree that they will struggle (compared to previous years) this season and it will be easier to fire him in the next few years when the Baylor job is no longer toxic and quality coaches want the job.

So they go 6-6 and go to a minor bowl. What's wrong with that? A successful season, right?

For a school in the B12, playing in a brand new stadium, who pays it's coaches millions of dollars, and who is usually ranked in the top 10?
Very funny.

Yes, schools which have performed at a very high level should be expected to continue performing at a very high level. Schools which have performed at a mediocre level should be expected to continue performing at a mediocre level. Makes perfect sense!

Yeah, until Rice makes even half the investment of Baylor, we'll be performing at what you describe as a mediocre level, and understandably so.
