What if his dad told him not to.
FYI, Ian McCaw is resigning.

It probably wasn't a puzzle for many of y'all, but I wasn't familiar with the name, so I looked it up. McCaw was the Baylor AD.

Right or wrong, I'm not sticking with an institution that just fired my own dad. That money means more to him than pride? If he's such a great coach, he should be able to land on his feet somewhere. I'd resign in a show of support to my father, but maybe that's just me.
I would expect he talked at great length w his dad, whom likely recommended he stay put if he can, as even if not implicated, he may be a tad "radioactive" at the moment

The report summary released by Baylor said (iirc) that lower level coaches/administrators were also implicated. Grobe may lose a coach or two. I agree that any assistant who can should stay one year to avoid radioactivity.

The guy who cuts my hair has a grandson who got frequent PT at linebacker. I'm curious what his take will be.

Why is Kendall Briles sticking around if they just fired his dad? To hell with that!

So he can get sideline passes to the Tulsa football games?

I know of at least 4 athletic/football staff members who have been fired.

I still wouldn't stay. I'd resign and let it be known that it's in support of my dad. Time to move on.

Killing their commits for 2017. Already have lost 4 of 6. I am surprised that they are going with an interim instead of getting a new HC quickly.

Baylor had to hire this kind of guy for PR reasons. Of course once he "cleans" the act up, or rather folks forget about the slimy goings on, Baylor can continue going about their mission of obtaining relevancy through winning football games.

That was the driver of my previous post. How can they possibly recruit between now and January when the recruits will have no idea what coach(es) they will be playing for?

I disagree. I think (or would like to think) that Baylor has recognized the grave misdeeds and crimes perpretated by its athletes and administration. I believe they'll take every step and action necessary to ensure this never happens again. If Baylor stays among the top 25 programs in the nation, I don't think it will be because they are putting wins ahead of women again.

I also doubt anyone on the Baylor coaching staff will be coaching there after this season, unless Grobe or someone on the current staff is somehow hired as head coach.

Thr fact that Briles happened after Bliss leads me to doubt that this is the case. But one can hope.

Regardless, there is clean-as-a-whistle good guy coach who is grossly underpaid and available. Hint hint Baylor.

In seriousness, I think Baylor is going to let the dust settle and then try to rebuild.

If Baylor takes the hint, should we go after Briles? Numerous top50 wins, many signature wins, not bailiff, doesn't use the meercat, is familiar with Texas and Houston recruiting. What's not to like?

You've posted some variation of this same question several times over the past few days. It was annoying the first time. It's still annoying.

We get it. You're trying to advance some straw man argument that the binary alternative to Bailiff is some morally bankrupt path that involves winning at all cost. Beyond weak.

But please ... tell us again how others keep sustaining the same tired arguments and how you're just here to correct the record.

He was mentioned for several lower FBS jobs but either withdrew or wasn't part of the finalists.

Plus he was at Wake so he can espouse the Baptist values angle.

Art Briles is probably not the right coach for Rice. Rice would not let in many of the recruits that Art has recruited for nor should it. I do not think any program would dare hire Art until maybe after this next season has passed.

Probably all of Baylor's assistants will be looking for other jobs since whoever is the next permanent HC will probably want to have his own assistants but they will stay until they get a new job offer in hand.
