To be fair, UTA with Simmons or Kuhnel is as good as anyone in the country. After that...well we finished 7th in the SBC.

That's not Calvi's style. It wasn't Stanky or Kittrell's style either. We have always won games by getting people on base, moving them over, and getting them home. We also win with good pitching, good defense, and good enough offense. Most of the year that has worked (we are 2nd in the conference in runs scored, have one of the best starting pitching staffs and the best defense). We don't really need bigger bats, just more timely hitting and fewer strikeouts.

Not if we don't want to win in conference tournaments.

No one has won more conference tournaments than we have, and it's not even close. Trust me, it's frustrating to watch our offense struggle this much lately, but power is not our problem, IMO.

Part of the reason USA has an overwhelming number of conference tourney championships compared to rest of the league is you guys have been in the league for 40 years while the next closest schools in terms of longevity; LR, Ark St, UL have only been in it for 25. USA got 5 of those 11 tourney wins before any of the other longtime members of the SBC were even in the league. The rest (aka the newbies) have few or no tourney championships due to revolving nature of the conference. USA has 6 tourney titles since the Sun Belt/American South merger in 1991. UL has 3. LR and Ark St each have 1.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, it's also been over a decade since USA's last conference tourney championship.

Texas State and Troy are tied 4-4 in the Top of the 8th. I hope it goes 15 innings.

We're destined to play troy round 2, so yeah, this isn't good for us that Troy's losing big

11-4.

Sorry I missed the earlier games. Went to the beach then dinner. I'm in a good mood so I'm glad that the team isn't turning my mood sour. (at least not today.)

You missed my point. I was only stating that our system works. I wasn't debating the best programs.

There's a strange history of Arkansas State or Troy knocking each other out of tournaments. I think it's happened 5 of the last 7 years.

Texas State's closer suddenly realized their bullpen was supposed to suck with 2 outs in the 9th. 2 easy outs, than 3 straight hits.
