HBCU/expansion
Thoughts on adding a HBCU like d2 Benedict College or Albany State to the Big South?

AS stadium sits 10k and is pretty new

BC stadium sits 11k built in 2006 and almost certainly would be the second best stadium in the big south

HBCU
Big South needs all the help it can get. And if a school shows the desire and ability to move up it should be considered.

RE: HBCU
I'm not opposed to a HBCU or to any school with a pulse. I'd prefer whatever school that will be competitive and raise the profile of the conference while bringing in a new market that is within or near the footprint. I realize the latter is likely more important to the presidents making the decisions for cost saving.

RE: HBCU
So which schools do you think they should target? Obviously they should add KSU as a full member but after that. I saw something that said the commissioner wanted to get to eight teams for football.

They would be an awesome addition

Catawba College has a nice football stadium similar to PC.
North Greenville isn't too bad either

They did have over 4600 people for the UNC-P game so that would be good

Just say no to D2 HBCU call-ups. Let's stick with poaching disgruntled MEAC schools like Delaware State and Hampton.

Hampton would raise the academic profile. From what I hear they are like the Harvard of the HBCUs.

I am not familiar with D2 schools. I think the highest preference would be a current FCS school(s) within or near the existing footprint. It isn't easy to convince others to join the Big South.

DSU would leave.

RE: HBCU/expansion
At this point I'd take what we can get and hope the teams grow more competitive and stronger in time. The Big South needs football teams.

Obviously, there aren't any out there who are 1) willing to join the BSC, or 2) have a desire to move to FCS and into the BSC.

Either way, right now, it's a losing situation for the BSC.

RE: HBCU/expansion
Since the BSC commish said expansion was being looked at, I wish he'd address some of the teams being looked at.

I don't think that would be very fair to the schools that are looking for the exits of their current conference. They probably don't want to put their names out there and then not get the Big South invitation. Either that or the Big South is bluffing.
