Unless Waggoner is coaching instead of Graham, I assume Glenn Otto will not be an option tomorrow (if Rice gets there). So....thank God for that.

Dude we get it! Ya don't like Waggoner. Stop dissing him! Kid is a senior and wanted to fight for his team! I can dig that.

I have nothing against Waggoner. I don't know anything about him. I said he was the Coach of the Year. I just thought he made a bad decision the other night in using his #3 starter. I couldn't have cared less about that, though.
This was the only thing he's done to make me not like him. Kid should have been told that his heart is appreciated but he can't start less than three days after throwing 114 pitches.

Graham ain't exactly scared to overuse pitchers either. Helluva coach, but he does the reputation of doing that.

Not that anything on social media is surprising, but Law's tweets are a bit irresponsible.
Waggoner has always treated his pitchers' arms delicately -- ask Strailey and Blair for reference.
As for today, not that it makes a difference, but Boster asked to pitch, did not want to leave the game when yanked earlier, and would likely give a solid defense of Waggoner's treatment of him during his time at Marshall.
Idiots like Law (and those that he has fomented - including other Herd fans) should be ashamed of jumping to conclusions without all the facts.
He's on WG's case all the time. He may of had a point with some high pitch counts before 2003 but it hasn't happened since then and we try to let him know when he decides to spout off lies. Look up Wade Townsend's obliteration of him on Twitter if you want an entertaining read.
That was an interesting read - reinforces the notion that Keith Law is a self-righteous jack-hole.
Frankly, there is little evidence that a single instance of a short-rest turnaround is going to be detrimental to a pitcher's future. If Waggs was routinely doing this -- say bringing a weekend starter back during the mid-week to pitch against OOC rivals -- then he might have a point; but to spread the lie that THIS instance is abusive, and that all future prospects should steer clear otherwise have their arms and careers put in jeopardy -- irresponsible.
This does raise another issue -- should the league take a closer look at the tournament format? With the potential for six games in five days, there are few teams capable of effectively staffing their team with that many quality arms for that span of time and games, esp. when the conference season is built around the three-game, Fri/Sat/Sun rotation. Seems odd - and I'm sure other conferences face the same problem - but it is a problem.

I know the SEC has it set up so teams don't play a DH. It has it's disadvantage like what happened this year..today a 1 loss Texas A&M beat an undefeated Ole Miss and advanced to the championship while in the 2nd game a 1 loss Florida defeated an undefeated LSU team and advanced to tomorrow's championship game. Also a team could play 6 games in 6 days as they start Tuesday with 4 "play-in games" with seeds 5-12 to while the top 4 get a bye that day

Never count out Rice in conference baseball tournament action. Interesting decision for Wayne Graham. He might go back to staff ace Jon Duplantier on 3 days rest, but Duplantier has struggled his last couple of outings. Maybe he rests him for the NCAA regionals instead, but if that's the case, the Owls will throw out the same Johnny staff guys who got rocked in today's first game.

No announcement for USM yet. I'd assume Cockrell, but they may want to rest him for Friday. If that's the case, perhaps Nick Johnson.

Congrats to USM and Rice. Both great teams and hoping you both do great in the regionals. Was hoping to face our nemesis USM but root for both going forward.
