RE: Nana Akenten
Interview with Nana.

July is huge for every kid that isn't deemed an immediate NBA prospect.

Akenten is a 6'6 wing with 2G skills but is closer to 195-200 lb's who has a nice mid range game.

Again, WMU offered last summer. Was the first to do so.

WMU is mentioned frequently and my take is being encouraged. Long road ahead. I feel the dark horse is Illinois State unless someone else comes into play that is boffo.

Your welcome. I like to focus on the major sports and only give a scant view of minor ones like football and hockey. 07-coffee3

This and similar contributions are simple cut and pastes. Anybody can do it ( I'm a perfect example). The fact it was free (04-rock) made it easy. The other fact that it was from the Horse's mouth made it more relevant. Too many of these sites are wannabes who hype paint drying. The interview was hardly stellar but the fact WMU rolled off the tongue of the recruit was the "moment of truth". Thought others would like to hear.

Now if we could sign this kid, put him on the rack over next summer and stretch him out to 6'8 or '9 then we've got something!

SIU offer.

Bolingbrook 2017 SF Nana Akenten @nbasfuture gets Southern Illinois #Salukis offer @brookhoops @HoopersBBall @VerbalCommits

Are the Salukis even relevant anymore?

Great coach down there in Barry Hinson but drawing flies when it's coming to the level of talent needed to go back to the day.

Hope Nana doesn't make a Boo Boo and chooses the Dawgs.

NaNa offered by Rams of Fort Collins, Colorado and the 'Tangs of Brownsville Tx.

Hoping SMU gets the death penalty again. Well deserved that Larry Brown would bring it about. Great Coach but apparently not so Great Person.

SMU has Ben Moore also out of Bolingbrook, Ill. who should be a Sr, I think.

Hawk should simply say "If not on probation when you are there in the only head to head I spanked Tim Jankovich. Come join us and be a Bronco!

RE: Nana Akenten
Avowed to stay off twitter and lay low.

Likely sorting out offers and narrowing field.

WMU has a shot for at least sentimentality. First to offer and in a taped interview where the "scout" Scotty Burgess kept trying to speak over Nana and imply "bigger programs" are what Scotty B's audience wanted to hear about. But Nana included in the list offered by Scotty with a slight grin stating "they were the first to offer".

Currently has Nebraska, Illinois State, UTEP, and a host of like mid-majors including WMU.

Key here IMM is two fold.

Incumbent roster depth and by whom. Posing competition and possible limit to early minutes.

And the breadth of like or superiorly rated (I know Major) current prospects too offered.

What does this say about their view of Nana now (host of other offers) and what is the actual likelihood that a "bigger stage" like the Big 10 is even going to be available in the future with existing depth?

At WMU PT wont be given to him and there are like players such as Jones, Kennedy, Johnson and Davis. All a little taller, shorter and likely lighter. But similar ball skill sets. Key is he was offered last July as a junior after they had already had Kennedy and Davis signed and sealed. And they continued thereafter getting Johnson in the fall and later this spring Jones. It all says, "We need and want these types": Kids with multiple ball skills who can guard multiple positions and who can disrupt defensively due to athleticism.

It will be interesting to see how Nana's decision making plays out.

RE: Nana Akenten
Discusses his recent and so far only official visit at Nebraska.

No decision yet nor nothing public regarding who else would be picked to fill out the other slots.

Tim Floyd of UTEP was at Akenten's HS open gym and offered two other teammates who are a soph and junior to be. Really trying hard to influence the decision.

In a tweet of several weeks ago Nana spouts a motto of "Being patient through November" or something to that affect. Implying he plans to take his time to make a decision.
