This had been bugging me for a while, but in many episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, there's a map behind his desk that looks like Cincinnati. The odd shape of Mt Airy Forest always stood out, as did the positioning of the "blobs" that reflect other parks like Burnet and Eden, but I always dismissed it because it didn't make sense for a map of Cincy to be on the wall in North Carolina.

Turns out the map is of Cincinnati. Other maps also used were of Nevada and Idaho:
