Chris Ash changing perception of football program
http://www.cleveland.com/big-ten-footbal...e_mis.html

Quote:A few short months ago when Kyle Flood was in charge, that job was mission impossible. If the Rutgers coach couldn't secure any commitments from top New Jersey prospects, what's the point?

And during that time, I was very, very hard on Flood. Examples:

• An open letter to Rutgers: Why Kyle Flood isn't doing enough in New Jersey to make the Scarlet Knights a contender

• What would Rutgers starting lineup look like if it recruited New Jersey like Ohio State recruits Ohio?

So when former Ohio State defensive coordinator Chris Ash took the job at Rutgers, I thought to myself: "Good luck with that."

I was wrong. Rutgers isn't Mission Impossible. It just needed the right personality. Look at Rutgers' 2017 recruiting class, nine of the 10 commitments are from New Jersey.

RE: Chris Ash changing perception of football program
The jury is still out on Ash, and he'll be ultimately judged on whether he can win enough on Gamedays. So far he is off to a good start on the recruiting trail, and the top players in New Jersey are listening to his pitch.

When Kyle Flood was hired I was willing to give him a chance, and there was even a time I thought he might have some success recruiting wise, but in the end, being a college football head coach at the FBS level is a 16 to 18 hour a day job. Flood wanted a 9 to 5 job.
