I still don't think this will be successful. I love the SF games in Sept with strategically chosen opponents but a weekday evening game late in the season against Toledo? I can't see many people attending.

My wife and I live in Central Ohio and we have attended all of the SF games and spent the weekend in Chicago for a mini vacation. However this event does not appeal to either of us.

That seems like a realistic projection, between 15-25k. I think it'll do okay.

Some of us are excited about it and are thrilled with SF's bold thinking. I plan to attend and will be traveling from DC. Is there still an effort by a Dog Pound member to gather a group for a suite?

Yeah I definitely believe the game will do just fine.

I will have a group of 20+, the same people who were interested in going to the NW game a few years ago and nothing else are also interested in this one.

It is encouraging to see some positive posts about the game. Despite my somewhat negative comments, I do hope that it is a huge success.

We'll see how this goes, but the thing that gets me is the debt payments for the Cell which are now $36 million and going over $80 million per year? Illinois politicians are just great at approving projects with long time lines so future generations have to foot the bill. I don't know if Illinois will even be around in twenty years the way things are going.

Every Huskie wants success on and off the field; the questions you raised are not so much negative as being realistic and evaluating value. The point of the article is that the Cell expects to make money thanks to the deal they negotiated. The article is not whether this is a good or bad thing for NIU.
Clearly this was a time and point when weeknight games on ESPN helped bring exposure, however, there are fans that now legitimately question if the value of that diminishing exposure is worth the costs in terms of potential losses in attendance, classroom/practice continuity, etc.
In that same context, some debate whether giving up home field surroundings/comfort for one of the most pivotal games is worth the "novelty" of playing in a ballpark to attract "individuals" who otherwise would not care about the program.

Found out my four tickets will be in Section 118, which is basically 40-yard line. At least they're taking good care of the season ticket holders in that regard, so i'm happy.

Yes, and it is extremely unusual that a game of this sort in a professional sports venue would be included in our season ticket package at no extra charge. Kudos to Athletics!

Yes, and the Toledo band was gracious to shore up our woodwinds section by lending us their flautist. This has already been posted on the Huskie defense's bulletin board.

So, what are the reasons why people are interested in the game at the Cell but have no interest in a game at Huskie stadium?

If football is a quintet I'm afraid to see what the basketball bands are like. Maybe just the audio recordings this year?

if we break the 25K mark, can we play all of our home games in Chicago? We always pull more than 50K when we play in chicago.

I don't live in Illinois and who knows when we will play at Comiskey Park again.

I still buy four season tickets even though i can only make one or two games a year, if i'm lucky.

i say this game has 5-7k of attendance
