Probably a tactic being used so the stadium in San Diego would get built.
I used to live 2 blocks from the proposed site. Wish I had that condo now. Would turn a nice profit a few years from now after it's built.

GhentFan, are you a fan of Ghent, as in the Belgian fĂștbol club? They've had a really good year.

Yes, and it's also a name of a neighborhood in Norfolk, VA (Old Dominion University) Figured I'd play a little with the name.

Goof, not if people think that Spanos can't afford to move the Chargers to LA.

Don't know what it would cost to move to Vegas, perhaps not nothing but should be cheaper. Perhaps LV stadium promoters are actually "doing their part" to help scare SD into the new stadium, in return for the league playing nice with letting the Raiders move to LV.

Mark Davis has pledged the Raiders will pay $500M of the cost of the new stadium in Vegas. I assume they would be asking for a similar amount from the Chargers.

Coincidently, the relocation fee to LA is $550M. So the cost to move would be about the same for the Chargers. Same cost to move to LA or Vegas.

RE: Las Vegas Chargers...
I don't think it would be the same fee. Moving to LA, and especially being the only team in the entire market, instantly bumps the value of said franchise through the roof. Not necessarily as true with Vegas.

But yes, you have a great point with the money that the franchise would have to commit towards the building in Vegas. However, my recollection from a few months ago discussions was that while Spanos could ill-afford to pay the relocation to LA, Davis was in even worse shape financially. So if Davis can some how afford to move to Vegas, then I think Spanos could figure it out.

All guesses on my end. No proof!
