RU is not happy about Michigan taking 5 of our best recruits last year (plus Peppers the year before). We blame Flood and his devastation of the overall football program. And why does the Principal of Paramus Catholic High School invite Harbaugh to speak at the high school graduation. And then say RU is "invited" to attend Michigan’s camp at our school. PC is hated by most other high school coaches since Partridge (former PC coach) used questionable methods to build a powerhouse team. Then left to join the Michigan staff. Basically we are thrilled that Ash stood up to Harbaugh and that he is building a strong program.

Harbaugh also hired the former HC at Gilman School, the Baltimore-based powerhouse football school. So I imagine Harbaugh will be holding a camp in MD soon.

It looks like Maryland and Rutgers want to get in on this "rivalry" thing. We came to the conference together, we both hate PSU (triangle of hate??), we aren't far apart geographically and will battle for recruits occasionally. Throw in the two games we've played where each time the home team lost in dramatic fashion…I think we have a good thing going. Add to that, the fact that each of our current head coaches were part of one of the best rivalries in college football and will now add a bit to that rivalry on June 8th.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh will headline the Next Level Football Camp at Paramus Catholic High School in New Jersey (as well give the commencement speech at Paramus Catholic's graduation the following day). It looks like Maryland's HC DJ Durkin, Syracuse coach Dino Babers and Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi -- a former Michigan State defensive coordinator -- will also attend the satellite camp with their full staffs.

So what does this have to do with Ohio State and Rutgers? Well, Paramus Catholic boasts in impressive crop of talent. Rutgers coach Chris Ash announced he was holding a camp at Farleigh Dickinson the same day as the Paramus Catholic Camp. The two schools are separated by about 7 miles and Ash is hosting his camp with Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Temple coach Matt Rhule. And, according to NJ.com, other New Jersey high school football coaches are encouraging their players to attend the camp at Farleigh Dickinson instead of the camp at Paramus Catholic.

It is time to battle. Thanks UM and OSU for letting us get in on the fun.

I think the camp is on the Madison campus, not the Teaneck campus. Same spirit, though.

Pulled this from MD 247. It looks like "Maryland will co-host three satellite camps with Michigan this summer...". This is in addition to the NJ camp. "Harbaugh and Durkin maintain a strong relationship despite becoming direct recruiting competitors...". Big Ron may not be that far off regarding Maryland being UM'S "paisan".

But also interesting in the article is the amount of satellite camps MD is participating in.

Some of Maryland football's planned satellite camps:

Wise High (Md.)

Lafayette College (Pa.) June 5

West Georgia June 7

Raw Talent (Cleveland) June 8

South Mind Sound Body (Detroit) June 9-10

Woodland High (Atlanta) June 9 and 10

Sound Body Sound Mind (Tampa) June 12

Old Dominion (June 12)

Raines High (Jacksonville) June 15

Tampa (with University of Florida) June 16

7 on 7 (at University of Maryland) June 18th.

I must confess... i like Rutgers future prospects.

First of all, I'm going to have to disinfect everything ; my mind, my finger and my tablet for even thinking about commenting on a dirty, filthy, disgustingly toxic P5 message board, let alone the Pig 10 (the whole conference is run by a bunch of baboons that can't count, or refuse to count because they are too worried about tradition to actually have a more accurate conference name) message board.

With that said, most people don't understand where their hatred for Ohio or for Michigan comes from. The majority of the people just get their hatred from their parents and grandparents and it's only tied to athletics. But this hatred goes back further than football. Decades before Rutgers hosted the first college football game ever. It goes back even before 1837 when Michigan became a state. It is a hatred that started and has continued because of......Toledo.

The Michigan Territory border used to be about 10 miles south of where it is today. It was in line with the border between Michigan and Indiana. Battles broke out and blood was she'd because of the border. Ohio wanted Toledo and so did Michigan. It got so bad that the federal government stepped in and negotiated a peaceful agreement between Ohio and Michigan. Ohio was given Toledo and the border with Michigan was moved 10 miles north to where it is today. Michigan was given the land that is now known as the Upper Peninsula.

Since then, Ohio has either felt they got jobbed or they realized they screwed up and regret ever wanting Toledo in the first place. If you have ever been to Michigan and Ohio you will quickly see Ann Arbor and Toledo have something in common. They both are the armpits of their respective states. They are dirty, filthy, disgusting cities. The only difference is Toledo is actually trying to get cleaned up.

I saw some more details on the "Toledo War" somewhere else a few years ago. Maps were originally drawn wrong which put Toledo in Ohio despite technically being in Michigan Territory. I think I remember reading it got to the point you had officers from Ohio arresting officers from Michigan in the area and vice versa. The miltia were even mobilized at one point. Ultimately, the question had to be answered before Michigan statehood and in a presidential election year, Ohio was even then was a big swing state.

Do you have any books or articles you can reference to because I love reading about history. What's funny is, I actually don't mind the state of Ohio, even though I'm from Michigan. It's a beautiful state when you get away from the cities and the people are friendly, except when you mention the word "football". :-)

I have quite a few family members in Michigan too (mostly Grand Rapids area) and the two states aren't actually all that different (but that's where most rivalries are had). I actually remember reading it from a book with random Ohio stuff in it at Half Price Books and can't remember the specific book, but will try to look up some later.
