Hearing that Auburn might look to try hiring HF. Thoughts? Any shortlist of replacements?

He gone!
You can see it in his demeanor
and in the team effort.

Thanks coach for the good run!

RE: Head Coach Hugh Freeze
If the reports about Auburn talking to Freeze for the last few weeks are true, it would explain the poor play calling the last 3 weeks. However, if that’s the case that’s not a good look on Freeze. He’s still getting paid by Liberty. Whether he leaves or stays, he should have been giving Liberty his best while he’s here. These last 3 losses have been bad, but this game today was absolutely embarrassing. If this is the best this team can do, they should refuse any bowl invite so they won’t continue to embarrass themselves.

Who do you like as a replacement?
Chadwell is the first that comes to mind. Triple his salary + incentives and he might consider.
Mike Houston was one of my favorites last time round. He elevated ECU but only had two 7-5 seasons these last two years.
I'm sure there are other good options when a school can offer 5 million per year. $$$

I don’t know that I like any of them since I don’t know their character or faith or how they fit with the Liberty culture. But based on results…..

- Jamey Chadwell
- Curt Cignetti
- Mike Houston
- Matt Entz
- Eric Morris

What I’d liked was a definitive statement from HCHF saying, “Liberty is where I am staying. I love it here. It is a special place. It is the place for me and always will be as long as they will have me. Why not Liberty? We can win games here, conference championships, and schedule and play our way into a New Years bowl game. The sky is the limit here on the mountain!”

More ideas.

Matt Entz NDSU. Has HC experience and some years as a DC during NDSU dynasty. He will move up. He is not a southern coach (doesn't need to be from the south).
Curt Cignetti JMU. Very good results with JMU and has done well with the FBS transition. He's experienced as a head coach. He is a little older (not necessarily a weakness).
Urban Meyer. Very long shot. Must be paid at least 5 million per year like Freeze. LU is less stress than a P5 school. Could be a great final HC job with a shot at the playoffs.

Three straight losses which were supposed to be three very winnable games ended what could have been an 11-1 season and probably a top 15 ranking. If this collapse is because Freeze had his mind on Auburn instead of the job at hand, how does the Liberty faithful respond to this? What if Auburn backs out and Freeze stays? Will it be this is just business let’s move on or is there a loss of respect and trust for Freeze? Will he loss the fan base? What about the locker room? Has he lost that? I’ll be honest, if the failures of the last three games were because Freeze had his heart and mind elsewhere, that bothers me. I won’t say my feelings will not change, but as of right now, I’m bothered by this. Liberty gave Freeze a chance when nobody else would touch him. Liberty has supported him and payed him well for his efforts. He owes the Liberty faithful an honest answer about how this fiasco went down.

Good points. I think this 2022 team could have had double digits wins.
I also agree that HF should make his intentions crystal clear. Stay and continue building or go to the SEC/P5. The distractions likely cost a win or two. This is not good for the health or morale of the LU football program.

RE: Head Coach Hugh Freeze
I believe he has been honest and open to Ian McCaw and also to the team. That is enough for me I think. I’d a liked him to give me a statement that he has no interest in coaching another team and he is committed to Liberty. But that hasn’t been the case. I don’t believe he owes that to me. He sure can’t say he’s interested in this team or that team. It would ruin this program more than the current state has.

Good luck HCHF at Auburn. Hope you win a lot and keep your eyes on the prize.
