Wood Selig talks with Nick Cattles every Wednesday at 5pm on ESPN 94.1. ESPN 94.1 has an app that works pretty good

I turned it on at 5:00, but I can't take much more of it. He should change his name to Prattles.

I think WS got pushed back because the Tides game earlier ran late

I think Wood is actually usually at 4:45. I always just miss him, because I don't get off work until 5.

1. Cincinatti
2. BYU
3. Houston
4. UCF
5. Memphis
6. Boise State
7. UCONN

Where does that leave ODU, are we in position to make a move if needed?

These are a little more helpful

Just offhand, does anyone know the exit fee for C-USA and the entrance fee for the AAC?

Not exact numbers and somewhat outdated but:

June 2014 Tulane paid $1.5 Million Exit fee to CUSA

July 2014 Tulsa paid $500K to CUSA for Exit Fee and $2.5 Million Entry fee to AAC.

Scale numbers up for inflation and new rules put in place.

RE: Conference Expansion heating up again
I talked about conference realignment a few months back, this was my solution.

The American (after Cincinnati leaves to Big 12 (hypothetical)) and C-USA need to re-align, plus App state moves from the sunbelt. To me no power is lost in the either conference just shifted around to make sense.

Proposed Conferences: (12 teams each)

Conference A: Old Dominion, Marshall, East Carolina, WKU, Charlotte, App State, Temple, Navy, UCF, S Florida, FAU, FIU, UConn

Conference B: Tulsa, SMU, Houston, North Texas, Rice, UTSA, La Tech, Tulane, MTSU, UAB, Southern Miss, UTEP, Memphis

Yes not sure how UCONN would feel about it but it makes perfect sense, therefore the powers at be would never consider this

I mean, I could very easily see USF and UCF balk at the idea of being in the same conference as FAU and FIU. Same with Houston/SMU and UNT/UTSA. Same with Memphis and WKU/MTSU. Same with UConn and App State.

It'd be a very regional conference but I'm not sure it takes enough consideration into whether or not these schools actually want to be associated with one another.

yeah, when you look at it from the AAC's folks point of view its a downgrade. for us its perfect. its just taking away from some of what we already have and adding better pieces.

I see your point but I dont know if its a downgrade if your adding value to your conference by letting fans travel to the games. The AAC is probably more spread out than C-USA. Relocating to be closer to peers is not a bad thing. Other than a couple schools in the AAC that will be plucked away. we are all on the same page

ask anyone in the AAC if they want to trade Houston and Memphis for FAU and FIU. they will say no without thinking twice about it and I wouldn't blame them.

agreed but my point was that G5 conferences should re-align to make the most geographical sense. it doesnt have to be with the teams that I listed, those just made the most sense to me and there didnt seem to be a drop in power

I think Houston has a shot leaving, Memphis... maybe but I think it'll be Cincy or BYU to the BIG12. FAU/FIU might have a shot to replace them given their markets and recruiting area.

I did not see this article posted here but this may be a reason the Big 12 is looking at expanding.

RE: Conference Expansion heating up again
There are only 4 teams in the AAC with any chance of leaving. UConn, Cincy, Houston and Memphis, in that order. Once you get past those, none of them have any reason to complain about being in a conference with any CUSA schools. I didnt want to be in a conference with MTSU (I knew that had a good womens team, but wasn't even sure they were D1), and thought we were above them, and now they've kicked our butt in nearly every sport and propped up the conference with a win in the NCAAs. I would guess there was a time, not long ago, when USF thought they were way too good to ever be in a conference with UCF as well. Times change. Teams rise and fall, unless you're in the P5. Look at GMU, from crap, to good, to crap again.
