Idaho to drop to FCS
http://footballscoop.com/news/source-ida...op-to-fcs/

This is the first school to do so since the 80s. It really won't impact William and Mary directly, though they should be a pretty good playoff caliber FCS program. However, it will be interesting to see if more schools explore this option, like UMASS or EMU.

Here is a great opportunity for JMU - the Sunbelt Conference has not one, but two, open slots! The Dukes should jump on this!!

The Sun Belt kicked them and NMSU out a few months ago (for the post 2017 season) but there is no guarantee that the Sun is going to refill those spots.

U of Idaho is in the northernmost part of the state, not too far from Canada - they must be at least 2000 -2,500 miles away from ANY Sunbelt Conf School. This was not a very good deal for Idaho nor for any Sunbelt team traveling to play at Idaho

RE: Idaho to drop to FCS
I hope this move by Idaho provides some cover for other programs that should drop back down. UMass is top of the list. I have nothing against schools with the resources and some record of FCS success moving up. Who could argue is NDSU decided to jump, but it should be a two-way street. If schools are really being honest when evaluating where their programs fit best then dropping down should not be so taboo.

I think UMass is committed at this point to making the FBS thing work.

This has come up in the Boston papers last year and their administration is adamant that they're staying at that level.

*Update*

I stand corrected. Didn't see some of today's articles in the papers. ?

Agree 62. It's a good move for schools like Cal Poly, UC,Davis, and USD who need more opponents.

This is an interesting turn of events for not just ODU and you would think this might be the first step in other conferences seeing TV revenues decreasing.
How about the Sun Belt schools just reciving a $ 100,000 per for football TV ?
