I think this could be the last hurrah for the Huskies before they have to go through some major rebuilding. We need hare to stay healthy.

Our last two recruiting classes have not been rated very high by the "experts". I can see where the writer is coming from...We have a huge unknown at QB what with the injuries. Who knows how they will comeback...
I am okay with the preseason ranking.

The big question will be the offensive line...It was a big disappointment last season based on preseason expectations.This coming season will be a true test of the coaching staff's ability...

I'll take over 6.9 wins.

I wonder how much of it was the O-line and how much was the running back though. We really just used the 1 RB almost the whole time.

I don't know now NIU won their half of the MAC last year. That was a golden opportunity for the BroncROWS and Rocketeers and they still somehow blew it.

The Huskies beat the teams they needed to, namely WMU and Toledo, while their losses were expendable. They were lucky to be able to absorb the CMU loss. Huskies can thank Toledo and WMU for that, too.

NIU is as weak as its been in a long time on both lines though, and that's hard to ignore. Recruiting has slipped on the lines with Carey, probably not with skilled positions but on the lines NIU has taken some significant steps backwards.

yeah we only had 2 1st team OL and one 2nd team, can't believe how weak we have gotten there........

now again this was in opposition tothe statement that we have had poorly RANKED recruiting classes and nothing is further from the truth we have had some of our BEST or Highest ranked classes and yes even some of our best ever lineman classes in the last few years.

top rated O line recruits in history

we have landed the 4 of the 5 highest ranked O linemen in NIU history in our last 4 classes. And 7 of the top 10 ever in the last 4 years

top D linemen by rankings

3 of the top 5 ever in the last 54 years and 7 of top 10 all time in the last 4 years.

so the comments about poorly ranked recruiting classes being an issue is without question false. Now if you want to argue we have not developed these kids or the recruiting services are not very accurate I will listen to that all day but we have 100% had some of our best ever by ranking recruiting classes the last 4 years with out question.

The OL wasn't great last year but Carey and staff recruited the following line guys between 2014 and 2015...Chambers, Compton, Harmston, Evans, Scharping, Shively, Veloz, Steckler, Hughes and probably some others that I'm forgetting.
