RE: Spring Sports
[What I was *gonna* post last night before my modem croaked....]

Arthur Rinderknech and Jackson Withrow of the A&M Aggies, tomorrow's opponents, lost to Hidalgo and Watson (#1 who ETSU beat Friday) back in March in an SEC match between A&M and the Gators. But at this level, just like in other sports, the margins are slim at the top, so that doesn't at all mean ETSU should win just on that data point.

Meanwhile.....Torpergaard, who barely beat Biosca in singles, won his fourth match easily, moving into the semifinals of singles.

Also, I see a 7 PM Eastern time start for tomorrow's match (on the bracket), but the ETSU article says it starts at 1. I'm betting it's at 1.
-----------------------------
[Now, today's update:]

Looks like ETSU has changed the start time to 7 also, so I guess that's when it is.

Aggie write-up:

Camo??!! On a tennis court?! I think we have to root against A&M just on that alone

RE: Spring Sports
Well, I guess you all know Biosca and Rogerio lost yesterday, in another very close match. The Cinderella run is over.

end of the line

For some reason (likely because they cut the funding for the indoor part of the tennis center before it was constructed), ETSU doesn't usually perform well when matches have to be moved indoors. We saw the same thing in the NCAAs a few years ago against Ohio St., as I'm sure you all remember.

A&M's story has an interview with the victors:

They seem slightly dismissive, maybe?

Notice that "ETSU" is not even mentioned - it's just "they".

Print version of that:

CONGRATULATIONS again to a wonderful tournament for David and Rogerio, and to the team as a whole!

Joe Avento: "...ETSU doubles team's NCAA run will be remembered for a long time."
