Another uphill battle our top two WRs from the 2015 recruiting class are no longer on the team.

Idaho is dropping to FCS in two years.
They and New Mexico State were voted out of Sun Belt Conference.
Idaho's other sports play in the Big Sky conference.

Yep, "Idaho" and "Sun Belt Conference" never seemed to make sense in the same sentence.

Eastern has PH.D. programs, and was recently given Research Status by the Carnegie Foundation. It will do us no-good to have medical or engineering schools, when we have U-M in our backyard with those schools. Eastern knows where it fits in the educational world. Let's not try to be something that may not be the best thing for Eastern.
Ken,
I am not saying EMU should get a medical school nor is it a realistic suggestion. Also, there are many fine programs at EMU and many alumni that are doing well with their degrees- myself included. That does not mean EMU should not consider developement of their program offerings- being judicious about it of course. Engineering would fit the bill literally- it is a reasonable expansion since we already have the school of tech and is an in demand profession that will have immediate payback to the student and in turn the university. UM having a similar program does not factor into this at all.
As for the Carnegie foundation research status, I am not sure what that means, but sounds like the university is expanding in other areas too. And I applaud that, thanks for sharing.

I made a thread about this a while back, but I think this is great news that bears repeating.
The Carnegie Foundation moved us up to doctoral-granting/research status, in the R3 strata. Essentially, the leading foundation in this type of stuff now considers us to be a bonafide research university. We were the only school in the MAC that wasn't classified R1-R3, but that's no longer the case!
I'm a nerd, so this kind of thing excites me, but I think we should all be proud of that. It backs up what we all already knew: EMU is a first-class institution.

UMASS will be dropping down to FCS too. Yet, we're too proud to do it for some reason.

The reasons have been explained over and over and over. Yet, we'd rather cling to the Bunsis misinformation for some reason.
It's over. He lost. Next.

I saw the faculty recommendation to move down, but I haven't seen news that UMass is actually dropping back to FCS. Anyone have a link?

No decision has been made by UMass to drop down to FCS.

How about we all agree that the majority of faculty at all D1 schools that are losing money (all but 2 dozen) would recommend that their schools eliminate football, eliminate athletics, drop down, or some combination.
This isn't something new, and will all be forgotten in 2 weeks..............until some other Bunsis at some other school starts whining again.

Here it is again I suppose

That is indeed excellent news. Now this designation is somewhat irrelevant as EMU is still the great educational institution with or without the designation. But from an outward appearance, this serves the University well.
This was a judicious expansion of the academic offering, as they merely expanded on an their existing bread and butter, college of education.
I still think elevating engineering beyond the technology level would be judicious step as well. Someone mentioned mechanical engineering being proposed for this. Are there any information on that?

KPJ, thanks for the info. Is this a proposal to move the mechanical engineering above the technology level? I did not realize abet accredited technology programs.
