You'd think MD would love F+, it had 2 MAC teams in the top 25 at the end of the year. Only other G5 teams were one AAC and one CUSA team. In fact the MAC had the second highest average F+ of the G5s, with the AAC leading the way.

But remember it's bad. MD said so.

FPI rankings predict WMU with 9 wins and NIU with 7 wins.

Per FPI WMU has 73% chance of winning the Sat, Oct 8 NIU game.
There is a good reason the games are actually played.

And think about how insane it is to try and project how a season of college football will go BEFORE anything happens. From a very very very limited set of information, it attempts to give you an idea of what probably should happen.

What's funny is that all but two of those games are in the green, so you could argue that the computers think NIU SHOULD win 10 games, but are guessing all won't go as it should.

Nope, it hasn't.

I don't believe talent helps NIUs coaching staff. NIU has more talent on offense than any team in the MAC yet our coaching staff doesn't know how or is afraid to use it

Yeah all those constant wins over WMU and Toledo just goes to show how much our staff sucks

DPN - which side are you on? I remember you went to the dark side after the Boise State debacle. Have you switched back to the pro-Carey camp after an off season of yoga and meditation?

There is not a bigger endorsement of a rating system than you trashing it.

Much like KenPom, I'll continue to use advanced metrics when assessing teams, which means I'll continue to look at F +/-, FEI, etc. You are free to continue using metrics that led you to the conclusion that Jacksonville State was going to beat Michigan State a couple years ago.

I'd like to remind you: you are the same guy that claimed a) Michigan State was the most overrated Top 5 team in college football history last year (they then went 12-2) and b) you called North Carolina "really, really bad" in about Week 3 (they went 11-3). You'll have to excuse us if our idea of what constitutes an accurate assessment of teams differs from yours.

Don't forget about him hyping up Ohio State as one of the best teams ever entering last season and his prediction of Ole Miss dismantling Memphis.

What are you talking about? NIU does have that much talent compared to WMU

He didn't have any oars because he didn't realize he was on a boat, or that any rowing needed to be done. Totally unprepared.
