We took a hit when the economy "downturned" but have mostly recovered. A couple years ago, TU had a donor drive and the goal was something like $700,000,000 and they surpassed that easily -raised about $800,000,000+ for capital improvements and other programs. Some, I think went to endowment. but we are sitting pretty right now and the fact we can raise that kind of money in such a short time is why I think the university is ready to start expanding. I drove by the west side of campus near Kendall school and noticed they are beginning to demolish some of those old houses in that area. I think that will be an expansion zone for TU in the future. The neighborhood should want this because whats good for TU is going to be good for that neighborhood. IMO

We are sitting at #92 with ($1,015,474,000) as of 2014.
Cincinnati is at #78 ----- Tulane at #77 ----- SMU at #65.

A couple of things about the endowment numbers. The figures show that we are increasing (at present rate) by about $150,000,000 per year. And with a fairly small enrollment, we are doing very good in that dept. For instance Houston has about an $800,000,000 endowment but have about 40,000 students (although they get moneys from the state system) and Cincinnati, like the Cougars have about the same number of students and an endowment sligthly greater than ours. With an endowment recovering to that degree, we could very easily expand the campus or build more athletic facilities or add programs - if its done in a slow, controlled way. SMU and Tulane have about twice the number of students we do and roughly the same amount of endowment moneys. Our campus is about 230 acres (about the size of SMU's) - Tulane's campus is about half that size. So the TU campus could increase in size very economically. The future looks bright - the stars may be aligning.

Here is a breakdown of TU's increasing undergrad enrollment. TU has approximately 1,200+ in grad school (not included).

2014 - 3,160

2015 - 3,428

2016 - 4,100 (est)

So over the last 3 years TU has increased enrollment by almost 1,000 (940 to be exact). This will probably keep occuring over the next several years since the goal I've heard is a 6,000 plus undergrad enrollment.
