Rumor has it Barr is gone ? He brings a winner to Union because he is known as a great recruiter, does the same at Providence. He was expected to do the same at WMU. What happened ? It takes 2-3 years to improve a program. Did Barr get a chance to bring in his recruits ?
If this rumor is true, this is a huge blow to the team and Coach Murray. You can't Barr for the teams poor record, only the coach and his former assistants..................

RE: Ben Barr
Kinda hard to pass judgement on such a vague rumor. Did he leave on his own or was he fired? What were the issues that prompted the move?

If true....I say... bye, bye. Brought nothing to the table. Not well liked by the players , but am confident that had nothing to do with his leaving. My guess is, Murray is looking for a scapegoat and he was it.

Barr resigned, and after next years poor performance Murray should be fired. As information Dude, not one Barr recruit has yet to hit the ice .
Too many great players like McKee are in the way.....

Shelf, this sucks for the guys he recruited, I would guess he was not happy with the direction of the program. The issue for Barr, I would imagine, even if he recruited future players, they are "Murray type guys", and we have already seen, that does not work in the NCHC. Murray wants full control of that program and trusts no one.

Murray must be the only one who missed the Frozen Four the last few years that saw how fast and shifty the teams were, that they were not monsters that can't move their feet.

I am not going to pick on players, but Murray seems to have changed his position on some things. He used to say he wanted to have his program create great young men and great citizens regardless of hockey. Now it seems he cares more about NHL Draft picks.

Fat chance Murray gets canned. Too many people are drinking the Kool-Aid at WMU. They are mesmerized by his name and "status". He is a master at deflecting. He knows how to play the politics. Tells reporters what they want to hear, then blasts the players and others for the failure of the team. Time for him to take a good look in the mirror, but his ego will not allow it. He's gonna have to quit. I mean, they gave the guy a contract extension and the team got worse.

Banquet tonight and everyone remotely connected to Bronco hockey was mentioned except Barr. The rumors appear to be true.

Just take your 5 posts over to UMass. It's apparent you are a little too close to Barr to be taken seriously.

RE: Ben Barr
I'm not a fan of Murray right now... Because we aren't doing well. Is he recruiting well? Are those recruits growing into their positions? Is the coach causing issues with the players and limiting their ability to reach potential?

Who knows for real... Here on this board.

All I know is that we are getting our asses kicked in the NCHC.

Our response? We should leave the NCHC....

Now Barr leaves and now it's another Murray issue... Come on.

Didn't take long for this crowd to love the Murray hire after Blashill and now that he's struggled it's ok to be concerned, but I don't think we are in as bad of a spot as everyone thinks we are

Go Broncos!

Heard, I can hear you on some of the points, but there are issues with the team and the coach. We can bury our heads in the sand and ignore them, or maybe we the people can make some noise and maybe get the attention of the Administration to look deeper into things. I can tell you for fact, talk to any of the players that have left the team, and I mean, played and graduated. There aren't too many Murray fans in the bunch.

Do you know why Barr left? I do. It was a Murray thing.

There are lots of teams that struggle in their leagues, but you don't hear much about how the coach is treating players, how the coach keeps the players at the school year round. If you cannot trust the players to go home and come back to school in August like every other team in shape, you got the wrong guys! How the coach cannot be honest with the players, how he looks the other way on some guys and punishes others.

RE: Ben Barr
With Barrs' departure, is WMU missing out on the Spring commitment period? He was the recruiting coach and haven't seen any recent WMU commitments in awhile.
