Wouldn't want anything public to come out about how someone ran a dog track.

Mason's husband's company got three more Paypal payments on March 22, 2016 totaling $29,000 from UA for billboards in Dallas during the Cotton Bowl: http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2016/04...r_home_pop

Bentley allows private meetings for Trustees. Bill being proposed to extend it to all 4 year schools.

http://www.annistonstar.com/columnists/g...5dbf9.html

That article says it allows for private meetings to discuss potential hires. Personally, I think it's only fair to the candidate for them not to discuss their hiring in public. Anything said could haunt that candidate for years in future job searches. It could also damage someone's reputation if they haven't discussed the position with their current employer and then don't get the job. I fully support making job candidate discussions private. I'm surprised anyone would oppose that legislation.

There's no need for another law to cover that. Private Executive Sessions are already allowed under the current sunshine law:

Quote:The (open meetings) law deals with “executive session” meetings of a governing board. It defines those limited situations in which an executive session is permissible.
These situations include meetings involving the following matters: the discussion of the general reputation and character or professional competence of an individual; the discussion of the legal ramifications of pending or threatened litigation; the discussion of security issues; the discussion of the price it is willing to pay, or certain other conditions, in a real estate transaction; or the discussion of matters that involve trade secrets.

The BoT already has private meetings, Sunshine law or not. All you have to do to confirm that is to go to one meeting. They vote to spend millions without the first word of discussion, no questions, no briefing. If an item makes the agenda, it is already decided in advance. That's just how they roll.

Why does this remind me of a custom jewelry shop?

When you don't name your husband's company that is getting six-figures via PayPal from Bama on your disclosure of interests, makes you think she was being advised by Teresa Bruno.

Yep. Or at the very least, reading from the same page of the same playbook. They're so similar - large sums of cash funneled to someone on a PR contract with minimal skills/experience/training in PR, with minimal visible results, via a company with no other clients or public presence (website, office etc.) - that a search of all UAS-related PR contracts would probably turn up a few more interesting bits and pieces. Two of these really stretches coincidence.

Oh, the old non-disclosure agreement trick. I wonder who gave Gov. Lover Boy this idea?

ESPN named an award after him, so he's got to be pretty special.

More fiscal responsibility from our state gubmit and BOT. If I were a board member on the finance committee I'd run from this like the dumpster fire it is
