A few days ago Trevor Glaser out of central Texas committed. He's a 5-11 RHP and might be our first commit from the class of 2020 (current sophomores)?

He is 6’ 4” not 5’ 11” unless he shrunk.

RE: 2017 Baseball Recruiting
We don’t have a 2018 thread officially but checking out the PG site for next years class it looks like we have 10 kids committed. I don’t pay for the complete ranking or anything but for the kids who have been evaluated it looks to be similar to our last few classes (~8-9 on PG scale). No 1st or 2nd PG underclass members that I saw.

Took a glance at A&Ms commits (18 of them which seems ridiculous) they have lots of guys in the 9-10 range who were invited to the PG all-american showcase (lots of 2017 1st and 2nd team members) and physically look much more like college players.

TCU has 11 listed. Lots of 1st and 2nd team PG underclass members.

RE: 2017 Baseball Recruiting
The PG list of kids isn't 100% accurate. Salgado, for instance, flipped his commitment to San Jac. The 2019 class is also inaccurate because it doesn't list a couple kids that are currently committed to Rice. I can tell you I've personally seen several of the kids play in person and all of them are very good.

The PG rankings seem to fluctuate dependent upon how many times a parent shells out $749 for their kid to attend a showcase. There's one kid in particular in the 2019 class that was in the top 50 nationally as a RHP but hasn't attended a showcase in a couple years so now he's in the 500 range....and I assure its not from a lack of development...he's really, really good.

Take the PG rankings for what they are....fun to look at....not a whole lot of importance.

Ah ok. I’ve never valued baseball rankings as much as football or basketball just because the best kids can go pro and the evaluation doesn’t seem to be as consistent. I do find it interesting to compare classes on the same site though. Thanks for the info on the showcases and our future owls!

Love Wlliamson's size. Given another 2 years before he hits campus, he'll likely be something like 6'5" 225-230 lbs. Could be our first power pitching southpaw since Cingrani and CSC.

Williamson must have shrunk. 05-mafia

Current roster lists him as 6'2" and 220 lbs. They also now show him as DH as well as P and 1B.

Ooops. I meant this for your game thread, Walt. I've moved it over there, and deleted it here.

JUCO outfielder Aaron Beaulaurier of Paris JC (and Spokane, WA) has committed to the Owls. Not amazing stats but he seems like he has some speed (15 steals this season). He hit .326 as a freshman. This year, he's just at .274 with 4 homers.

It will add depth for next year's squad. I expect Antonio Cruz to start in CF as a true Freshman, and I similarly expect Dominick Cox to show marked improvement over his Freshman year. If Beaulaurier is right-handed, he can platoon with Gneiting in RF. Brad is starting to pick it up at the plate, but his defense has been a liability this year, IMO.

Williamson got the win today against rival Tomball High School (sweet!) to force a deciding game 3 in the Region 3 Quarter Finals.

Looks like Tim pitched only the last inning of the game (8th inning), facing 5 hitters, walking one, hitting one and striking out the other 3. Effectively wild?

BTW - Perfect Game now lists Tim as 6'3", 228 lbs.

I guess he values playing time over education. He was awful-- both offensively and defensively-- when he was given an opportunity in a couple games early in the season.

Micah Davis from Houston Kyle Chapman, class of 2020 has committed to the Owls. Don't know much about him. He's home-schooled and beat #2 St. Thomas (private) this year. He's a real strikeout artist with almost 2 per inning.

Jackson Kiddy just tweeted that he’s going to Incarnate Word. Interesting switch. Hallmark has been gone from Rice for some time so I don’t think he would have been the one to originally recruit him for Rice?

With all due respect, the schools that these guys are switching to don’t really concern me.

It’s possible that Bragga re-evaluated each player and told them to look elsewhere, which would be totally fine with me because they have plenty of time to find a landing spot.
