Keep in mind that Martin doesn't have the best track record but this does seem to have some legs.

Memphis can afford $4 million a year... Neither one of us are writing the checks, so neither of us really know.

Absolutely they can afford it, now whether those with it want to pay it is a different deal.

No brainer. Make it happen. If Wichita St. can afford to pay him $3.5 million next year, why on earth can we not afford $4 million? And don't bring up the Koch brothers because I'll bring up Smith, Hyde, Graff, Laurie, etc.

Jeff Goodman said the same. Said people close to Marshall said he would take the Memphis job.

Goodman said two things - Memphis is the best job to open this offseason AND Memphis is a top 20 job.

He the "check writers" were not willing to pay a 10 million dollar buyout..I don't see them writing a check to pay 20 million for Marshall..I could be wrong but I just don't see it. It's very easy for us to say open the checkbook as it is not our money

I wonder if this means Mike Rose will get back in the fold?

When Cal was taking off for KY, Memphis said we'd match their offer.
