Yeah. I think the Braves got robbed there. He stole about 8 mil somehow.

I'm not Hoops, but I'm a Yankees fan who will answer. https://www.baseball-reference.com/playe...ro01.shtml has his statistics. After having an OPS of .680 in 2016 and .689 in 2017, it was down to .664 in 2018. He had 102 plate appearances in 2018. Without checking every player with at least 100 plate appearances, he must have one of the highest percentages of balls in play because he didn't hit any home runs and rarely walks or strikes out. In MLB in 2018, 34.8 percent of plate appearances were home runs, walks, hit by pitches, or strikeouts. Torreyes's rate was a little over half that at 17.6 percent.

I liked him very much, and honestly i don't feel like he ever got the credit he deserved in NY. Not flashy enough! All he did was play wherever they needed him too, and make contact, and without looking it up, i'd say my memory says he was always pretty clutch. With a team full of guys that either hit a HR or K, his old school style was a breath of fresh air. You got a good one very Zobrist esk IMO.

Our new GM is a former agent with no experience running a baseball team, so I'm a little skeptical about any moves he's making. However, he has connections with Cano's agent, and my guess is he's confident he can keep Syndergaard and deGrom for the long haul. Thus, he wants to load up for the next few years rather than tearing it all down and starting over. So we'll see what happens.
I'm not a huge fan of Cano. And only contenders add bullpen arms. So I guess us Mets fans will just need to hope the team stays healthy and we actually contend!

RE: 2016, 2017, and 2018 MLB Thread
Cano has 2,470 hits. I wanted to guess the last player to play for the Mets with that many hits. Gary Sheffield ended his career with the Mets in 2009 and had 2,689 hits. Looking at the players with at least 2,500 hits, the only others I know who played for the Mets are Rickey Henderson, whose last hit for the Mets was his 2,837th in 2000, and Julio Franco, whose last hit for the Mets was his 2,576th in 2007.

Interesting he has that many. so, if they keep him he's got a realistic shot to hit 3k

Goldschmidt to the Cardinals. NL Central and AL East are going to be tough again next year.

He debuted at age 22 and has a career average of .304. He has a chance to be the 19th player with 3,000 hits, 1,500 RBI, and 1,500 runs. We'll see if he gets much worse with age.

They have a weakness at 1B, and have better minor leaguers than what St Louis gave up. I know they can't have everyone, but they have been sitting idle for the most part and have yet to address any of their needs. Paxton helps, but doesn't make them that much better.
Sorry, it's extra salt when the Sox are fresh of a series title, are making moves and we are sitting on our asses!

Time to shift the scene back to baseball! And 08, you need to add 2019 to thread title.

Machado to the Padres, who saw that coming? Question is how long does he stay before they eat part of the contract to ship him off? I'll put the over under at 5 years and take the under
