RE: Are Memphis fans about to celebrate?
Why in the world would Tech hire Pastner? Tech basketball has been such a disappointment the last several years.

A change of scenery might be good for Pastner. After GaTech flamed out on their first 3 choices, well...

RE: Are Memphis fans about to celebrate?
I just wonder what they saw in the Memphis situation that made them think they wanted some of that? I mean, they could probably straight up call some better candidates, just say ACC, and get some folks running to get some cracks at the likes of UNC, Duke, and Louisville.

It could lead to a good change of pace for both programs, but, on GT's end, it doesn't make sense to me at all.

so far GTech has been turned down by Jeff Capel, Bryce Drew, and Butler coach Chris Holtmann....Pastner isn't choice #1

Pastner wasn't choice #1 at Memphis.

RE: Are Memphis fans about to celebrate?
Pastner has been a good recruiter. He was able to get top players to Memphis, but he was never able to get their respect. You could tell watching games even before the bad seasons started that players didn't respect him or buy into his deal. Some claim it was his youth, some think it was his Gee Whiz golly gee persona, but he never had players who bought in and eventually the fans stopped buying in.

His rhetoric has always been transparent if you weren't blinded by Tiger loyalty. Eventually they got sick of his schtict and when the fans turned against him, he got defensive and even wilder in his excuses.

He was never a fit for Memphis, especially after Cal. He might be a fit for Georgia Tech, but he has to change his style. Getting players to play for him in the ACC will be easier than keeping them in Memphis. He is a good person. He might be a good coach, just not at Memphis.

Georgia Tech is trying to set a record for number of head basketball coaches on the payroll at one time.

It's the off season. It's a former rival. What else is there to talk about.

How much Ray Watts or Alabama sucks?

We're supposed to talk about what JSU message boards say about our coaching hires.

Looks official now. Memphis mayor has let schools out early. Government offices are closing. Liquor sales cut off at noon.

Rethinking this, as hiring Jason Terry wouldn't fit the :

Blatant cheater has to vacate the Final 4 appearance

followed by

Good Guy but loses in 1st round ,

Pattern they seem to have at UM .

Friends of Josh. No way

Memphis is probably going to get turned down a lot before they settle. Pastner left absolutely nothing and Memphis is no longer destination job. It is a stepping stone too. A coach coming in has an empty bench. They have five scholarships available and probably another one with Pastner gone.

Pastner was way down on the list and had his bags packed to go with Cal before they settled for him.

My guess will be Penny Hardaway, which will be a fun crash to watch.

such a Ray Watts

my guess, we'll go after Gregg Marshall and Archie Miller...and they'll say no...

then we'll go after Will Wade (Nashville native, former UTC coach) and Steve Forbes (asst for Bruce Pearl and Gregg Marshall, ETSU head coach) and get our guy.

just an early guess...

Or how the team can improve in the rebounding category. We won a lot of games but lost the battle of the offensive rebounds, 390-366.
