Becoming CUSA related:

Ron Higgins ‏@RonHigg 30m30 minutes ago Baton Rouge, LA

I'm told MTSU coach Kermit Davis has interest in the Memphis job and may bring former LSU and ASU coach John Brady aboard as an assistant.

Ray Harper wishes he had known this.

I'm sure Davis/Brady are interested in us...but I doubt we're interested in them...

Keep his number. He has more NCAA wins than Memphis recently and when the rejections start, Davis will seem like a great hire.

Steve Forbes (asst under Pearl and WSUs Marshall, ETSU head coach) would be the better fall back...

I can't see Marshall leaving WSU for Memphis. It's basically a lateral move minus the goodwill he has built up in Wichita. Will Wade can have as much success at VCU as he can at Memphis and parlay that into a bigger job. I'm sure Steve Forbes would go. If Kermit is interested I'd certainly be willing to listen if I'm Memphis.

His name has been mentioned for several jobs, including UAB. He seems to be staying in place waiting.

He knows what the Memphis job entails and the unrealistic pressure he would be under. He might bite, but I doubt it.

According to sources, Memphis will pay the difference of Pastner's GT contract and his Memphis contract for 2 years and then they are done.

Memphis radio is hilarious today. In the same breath, they are saying that they don't need to get back in a situation where they have a 10.5 million buyout like they had with Pastner, but they are also saying that they need to empty the bank account to get Marshall. 03-lmfao

They do not see the contradiction.

That will rule out Marshall and Pearl and a couple of other big names. Tigers going to have to go cheap.

They could hire Chuck Person really cheap.

Memphis is a bigger job than UAB, in a better conference, with better pay...and I don't mean that as an insult.

You misunderstood in your arrogance. I pointed out that he was mentioned in connection to UAB to show you didnt to explain who he was to UAB fans. I don't think he was a serious candidate at UAB. I wadn saying he turned UAB down so he will turn UAB down. I'm saying he knows how crazy and unrealistic Memphis fans are and will think twice before doing it

Nope. The details were announced and Memphis pays GT a grand total of $1.255 million over 2 years, leaving about $9.1 million to hire a new coach. It's the deal of the century for Memphis.

Too bad Pastner conned the nice people at Georgia Tech. His presser was bad, the AD looked like he already had buyer's remorse, and Pastner made the statement that most schools aside from Memphis would have built a statue of him after he got 15 straight wins a few years ago. He really said that.

and I'm saying Forbes would take this job in a second if we offered it...

we're only paying Pastner 1.255 million to GTFO in a negotiated settlement...hopefully this means we'll have big $$$ to throw around.

IMHO, the whole city of Memphis should be celebrating today. Their prayers have been answered, and Memphis basketball will be on the rise again. Don't forget to send Christmas cards to Georgia Tech next December.

How much Ray Watts or Alabama sucks?

We're supposed to talk about what JSU message boards say about our coaching hires.

At least it was a conversation about UAB.

Worst move:

Ga Tech getting Pastner from Memphis or the GUMPS plucking Bill Curry from Ga Tech?

Pastner.

Forgive me for opening this up, but the Curry hire wasn't the worst hire at Alabama over the last 30 years.
