You can do that at most any school. You just have to check in first. I'm sure you wouldn't want just anyone to walk into your kids school and have lunch would you?

I don't have to check in anywhere. In fact, the cafeteria is right by the gym so I enter in that door. Why would I care if other parents want to have lunch with their kids?

I'm not talking about other parents but if there are no safety nets in a school, anyone could walk off the street, stroll into a school and start developing a relationship with any of the students there. I don't think anyone would want something like that.

I imagine that the teachers would put a stop to that quick. Can't have anything interfering with their love life.

I'm sorry if something like this happened to you in school but not all teachers are like that.

Never happened to me but I do know someone who had it happen to their child and the school administration did the exact same thing you always do......circled the wagons and started making excuses.....instead of condemning the action and taking measures to make sure it doesn't happen in the future.

And while it might not be all it's a significant enough amount to where we get several new examples a day. Do we need to revisit the "Epidemic" thread or did you get spanked enough the first time around?

Topic isn't about just anyone, it's about parents. Parents are the ones getting trespass warnings. Parents who have the nerve to walk their child to their school and step on the grass. Focus.

It's trespassing. Go to the front office like you are supposed to.

How do you get to the front office without entering the property?

Teachers unions have become like many police precincts. They protect their own, no matter what. I respect the police but sometimes they put their Brotherhood above the law.

I blame Owl69 in some fashion or another as this is in his neck of Houston's 'burbs.

I shudder to think what would happen if they tried this down here as well. In our 'burbs, we're more concerned with parents who create their own traffic rules in the effort to pick up their children (or drop them off) in the quickest, more unsafe way possible. There is also the contest to see who can be first in line for Johnny and Jill, so we have parents and grandparents getting to school at least an hour before it ends and idling their car the whole time.

RE: School bans parents from walking kids to and from school
We live in a village (within a city) with a small neighborhood elementary school. Probably 75% of the students are walkers (we don't even have a bus option because the school is so close) and the other 25% come from outside the neighborhood for the magnet program. That's why draconian rules simply wouldn't work here. We pay for before/after care at the school, which is run by the city and not the school, so we have to physically enter the school at the gym twice per day to sign in/out.

For the city parks and rec run before/after program, which has nothing to do with the school other than location, yes, I sign my child (not myself) in and out of their custody. If I am dropping him off or picking him up from school custody, no, there are no measures and I go inside the building.

So let me see if I have this straight. You mean to tell me that you could walk into your school and remove your child and there would be no written record that you ever did that?

Holy Shat.

After the bell rings and school is over, yes. If I pick him up in the middle of the day, protocol is to go to the office and they call him in on the intercom.
