They do not value success in athletics.

It's not important to this administration.

Crossing the 50 threshold I'm afraid JMU athletics will never be what I hoped in my lifetime.

Amazing - They fired Brady to hire a low level assistant.

Disbelief.......

Yup

No one with a straight face would even try and explain firing a coach of Brady's record and accomplishments (as modest as they may be) and hiring his former assistant who since he has left JMU has gone on to be assistants for some mediocre schools. It is inexplicable.

I am rooting for you Lou but Ill be doing it from Madizone.

Remember when Dillard hired the RU coach?

Seems like the same thing.....

Pretty sure Sherm wasn't happy being saddled with Dr Bradley.

I think Lou is probably on cloud 9 here either way :-).

Deane is a very good defensive mind, but I'm very surprised by that move.

I hope you guys don't make this all about Lou. He is one of us. No doubt you guys all want him to succeed, I hope. Save the bashing for those that deserve it.

I said from the get go no one would want this gig. It is a COA world.

Best of luck to Louis Rowe.

RE: Welcome home coach Rowe
I will fully support Louis and like him. However, I'm completely in agreement that it's underwhelming. Hiring Sanchez as an assistant HC at UVA (a very high-caliber program right now) would have been a much better quality hire. When Brady was fired I said the only reason we should have done that is if we had a home-run hire in the wings. I'm not sure this was it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now because he's an alum and he retained Deane (which is the main reason Brady was good to begin with). I think he'll recruit very well, he knows the school, the donors I think will respond (the high-level donors loved him in the pre-game speeches and were pissed when he was let go), and Deane will help with the x's and o's. Sooo...I guess my initial disappointment that we didn't get Sanchez is being followed with cautious optimism.

I wonder how much of this article they'll reuse: http://www.breezejmu.org/sports/from-cha...2bc8b.html

And hey, maybe we saved money on the HC so we can pay COA...right?

Keeping Coach Deane was probably Lous decision and a good one at that. I bet it is arranged Mike will hang around a year or two and then retire, it is a good for a rookie HC to have a former HC who knows how to be an assistant on his staff. Way different than Sherman and Ron... That was do this or resign.

Not offering COA is really going to hurt JMU men's and women's basketball. I don't know how many of you saw the interview with Coach Brooks on Twitter, but he said he had serious concerns about JMU not offering COA. He specifically said that he wouldn't be able to continue signing players like Precious Hall and Jazmon Gwathmey without COA because it's one of the first thing that many recruits ask about.

Good luck to Coach Rowe and whoever they get to for the women's team, but without COA, they're really facing an uphill climb.

I like Lou. That being said, he checks NONE of the boxes for a successful coaching search.

Our leadership is a disgrace to our alma mater. Personal agendas have taken priority over reality....and in typical higher Ed fashion, everything keeps going on business as usual. No accountability at JMU whatsoever. None of these jokes would last 2 minutes outside of JMU.

Don't know if anyone saw but VCU extended will wade to 2023. I wish we had balls and make a statement.

$125,000.

Kidding. Nothing has come out yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see it below where Brady was.

I'd be very surprised if it's over $225-250

It is weird that the press conference is Tuesday.
Why wouldn't you do everything possible to hold it by Monday in order to maximize press before the National championship game.

It's the best hire Jmu could make.
Made no sense for Sanchez to leave an associate head job at a top ten program with top 5 most respected coaching staff to go to a mid major to completely rebuild a program. He has in past and will be in discussion for many P5 jobs, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up somewhere in big ten or acc soon.

Second Rowe while not a blow you out of water hire, is the "young assistant with connection to program and great energy" everyone was calling for on these boards last year.

Rowe getting right assistants...starting with Deane, will help him buck the learning curve. Deane also helps in getting games he wouldn't be able to get for lack of connections.

If there is one thing I know is the college basketball world and what things add up to success in it. Rowe has had my support for awhile in admin and I was sad to see him go as an assistant.he is a great hire.

Bourne usually goes to the Final Four so my guess is he's flying out tomorrow and coming back Tuesday.
