Healthy Clark and Thomas and UC would have beat St. Joes. Not a whole lot Mick can do about the untimely injuries.

Agree, however, the issue was UC should have been in position to have a higher seed. Team underachieved throughout the season. That said, I think the program is in good shape and think they'll be really good next year.

OK, to all those who want Mick to leave/get fired: Please state a viable, REALISTIC candidate.

Larry Davis.

There.

If so it ranks right up there on the idiot-o-meter with Tubby going to the media to pitch an extension right after getting humiliated again on national TV.

I'm sorta done with paying for 2 Mercedes yet getting reliable, sensible Hyundais instead.

RE: Mick Cronin to UNLV?
This is a tough one

As mentioned the win last year was Larry Davis.

A new arena and $2mill will give you some candidates for sure. Three best players coming back and one signed already. Unlike those guys sit out a year to go play for Cronin.

I loves Micks loyalty but it's a slap in the face to fans for a guy to talk about doing his daughters homework. We are all family men but we don't make $2mill and get to take our daughter to work. He has an amazing situation, lives close to family, make a **** ton on money, reasonable expectations. I'd say go if you are going to, if not shut the f up. We can move on. 6 straight tourney is nice but let's not pretend 3 of those weren't in a weak conference and seeds of 6,6,10,5,8,9 isn't what I would call coming in strong.

You could also say if Mick could have gotten Ellis and Caupain to show up in the 1st half we would have won too. The Cronin camp wants to pin the loss on injuries and officiating. I see MC's point. However, Mick stated this was an extremely deep team all year. If Ellis spent half his time focused on the game and not complaining about officiating or loafing we win easy.

Injuries, refs, clocks and guys not making shots. Always an excuse with Cronin. F him if he wants to go to UNLV.

RE: Mick Cronin to UNLV?
How many years in a row are we going to keep saying, "just wait until next year." Again, I'm fine with Cronin sticking around but not at the expense of a "bidding war" with UNLV if in fact there are any legs to this story. I think it's a waste of time to argue about the merits of attracting a "name" coach vs. an up and coming young coach. The point is we need to vet the RIGHT coach for the UC program if Mick leaves this year or in the future. There is no reason to believe or any reason to fear that we can't get that done. Besides, Whit's gone.

RE: Mick Cronin to UNLV?
My initial thought is someone in Mick's camp leaked this story. His numerous comments about the fans, the last two months, led me to believe he is feeling the pressure. He flamed out once again in the trny. He knows a majority of the fanbase is extremely pissed. He probably wants something from the admin and has no leverage after another under performing season. He also knows the Cincy Media will run with this story. The media here is so predictable.

He leaves I do not see this as a bad thing. Fresh start both both parties. UC does not have to pay a buyout. The last decade has not been smooth. I think this might put to bed the post Huggins period. Of course, I am not naive and realize the local media will support Mick, say we are a stepping stone, and anything else to stick it to UC. Of course the local media's target audience are x fans. I just wish UC fans did not believe the Enquirer, Channel's 12/19/9 company line about UC.

RE: Mick Cronin to UNLV?
Maybe we're going to the Big 12 and Cronin doesn't want to share a conference with Huggins again? I know that's not the case, just goofing around.

Anyway, I'm with most of the board -- I don't want Cronin to leave, but he's already very well compensated for what he provides. If he really wants to leave, adios. If Ono and Bohn call his bluff and he goes, I won't blame them for not giving him yet another raise.

He is extremely well compensated. I found something interesting the other day. Most non-UC fans do not think he makes much. Heck, many do not think Tubbs makes anything either. When I tell people Cronin is one of the top 20 highest paid coaches they do not believe me. The media is powerful. They have most individuals in the tri-state believing UC is a bankrupt entity.

Exactly. Hell, Mick makes more than Roy Williams, Mark Few, and Larry Brown.

I stated earlier my support for Mick. That said if he decides he wants to leave then that's his decision and I don't think he deserves an adjustment to his contact as it's fair to both sides. I just believe there's a far greater chance his replacement would win less.

Or imagine having a little depth where losing one mediocre player doesn't put the team in a bad situation.

Board meeting tomorrow 8 pm Montgomery Inn?

I promise to drink several beers, grab a mike and ask why Troy stands at half court for 15 seconds to start every possession.

There is a New Mexico Twitter account claiming UNLV is sending a private plane to Cincy tomorrow to pick Mick up and return on Tuesday.

Is the coach's show on for tomorrow? If so, will Mick be there?

RE: Mick Cronin to UNLV?
Think about this, if he's looking for another raise, he actually must think he deserves one after this season. That's very worrisome IMO.

If he boards a plane to Vegas for any reason other than pleasure I hope they clean his office out while he's gone.

Does UNLV need a new football coach, too? We could do a package deal with Vegas in exchange for the Blue Man Group and some chorus girls.

03-lmfao Can we get Penn and Teller too?

Dude, you don't need beers to ask that. It's a perfectly legitimate, common-sense question.
