Congrats to #Nova. Didn't think you had the horses. I stand corrected- best team chemistry I saw all year #FinalFour

RE: stevers thoughts
gotta love folks who think they have the right to tell a person how to root for a conference. And it's really sad how folks have such a victim mentality where if someone says something factual about the conference, they're a douche bag or it's a hack job. Like it or not, it has been a struggle for the C7 group the last 5 years. Since Nova made the final 4 in 2009
Nova before this year was 3-5 in the tourney, missing 1 year
St John's was 0-2 in the tourney, missing 4 years(plus this year)
Georgetown was 2-5 in the tourney, missing 1 year(plus this year)
Marquette was 7-4 in the tourney, missing 2 years(plus this year)
PC was 0-2 in the tourney, missing 4 years
Seton Hall and DePaul had missed all 6 years before this year....
so 12-18 in the tourney in the last 6 tournaments before this year.
And 2 of the 3 teams that joined the conference had missed a year in the tourney since joining the conference....

So when someone says the NBE hasn't been taken seriously- I'm sorry but they hadn't. The NBE hadn't done anything to get taken seriously. Bomb out in the tournament, where like it or not, the majority of the fans in college basketball watch. And really the problems had started before the split. I mean look at the units. 2010 which is coming off the books, the C7 had all of 4 units. That sucks. And 2011-13- it's 6/5/6 units respectively- so not that much better.

I love your sidebars here at this CSNBBS site. You run into resistance at the HLoH, and mumble something over here.

The point of the ESPN Tweet comments were that their (ESPN's) first kneejerk reaction to Villanova making the Final Four wasn't to give them props for a job well done against an outstanding Jayhawks team... instead it was to make some dickhead comments about it... not congratulate VU, but instead try to piss on VU and the Big East. That was the point.

ESPN doesn't do this to any other conference, or not nearly as much nor as often. It's psychotic, obsessive behavior. They have a bug up their ass about the Big East.

RE: stevers thoughts
but Billyjack the thread I'm talking about had nothing to do with the ESPN tweet It was Goodman saying that the NBE hadn't been taken all that seriously. I'm sorry- but in the 2 years, the NBE hadn't been taken seriously. the NBE did nothing to be taken seriously. Folks on the boards complained like hell that the NBE wasn't getting taken seriously. So when Goodman says something that folks on the boards said themselves- he's a douche bag?

I didn't read what Goodman said. I was responding to the Tweet thing. I gotta get to work. I'll catch up later.

RE: stevers thoughts
I didn't read it either. What was said over on the other board was that he said that these guys played in the new Big East, which hasn’t been taken all that seriously

I'm sorry, but how exactly is that inaccurate?

RE: stevers thoughts
The thing is, look at what Jay Wright even said:
“We have to prove ourselves, not because we’re not a good league, but just because we’re new,” Wright said. “We’re the new league. It’s important that we do this, our league does this, and we continue to do this, for our league as much as for our school.”

We have to prove ourselves because we're new. Up until now, we hadn't proven ourselves. So kind of tough to be taken seriously. Now we have, and we are getting taken way more seriously.

RE: stevers thoughts
I have to say I agree for the most part with Jay Bilas on BE fans inferiority complex.

I do think when ESPN does graphics showing just the p5 conferences- that's wrong....

But what I think is insane is folks who ***** when someone from ESPN giving their opinion, doesn't take a favorable stance towards a Big East team. They think that's bias. No, that's their opinion. If you don't like it, go out on the floor and do something about it. To me, it's the problem with this country. All folks want to listen to is stuff affirming what they already think. I'm sorry- but that's just crap.

This coming from the dude that thought the NY Daily News headline was critical of Nova because they included the phrase "miracle shot" LOL! glass house home boy

Did I say that the NY Daily News was Biased? No. I do think that is far worse than a lot of what folks think is biased because it demeans what Nova did. The guy hit a 3 pointer from barely the NBA 3 point line. Since when is that a miracle shot?

But so many BE fans when someone says anything bad about a team in the conference- it's automatically a hack job, they're biased.... And that's moronic. ESPN says team X in the conference is going to lose in the 1st round, ESPN is biased.

RE: stevers thoughts
stever, espn is biased especially Jay BIAS.
do you think if the villanova team wore duke uniforms they would have been met with the same criticism throughout the year?.
criticism is fine when its accurate and deserved. Sometimes the B deserved it more often it didnt

RE: stevers thoughts
I think with Nova there was 2 reasons for I wouldn't call it criticism but skepticism....
1 the fact that Nova hadn't advanced out of the 1st weekend since 2009
2- the way that Nova got punked by Oklahoma in the game in Hawaii

Nova was going to get questioned all year long until the tourney came around.

Since the shot won a title. You're overreacting to that one, Stever.

Daily News and/or New York Post is going to call ANY last-second championship-winning shot, home run/extra base hit, pass or run from deep a miracle.

It's so funny- my 10 yr old girls team that I coach had a play that was very close to the same play that Nova won the title on. The same initial penetration followed by the kick off for the 3 pointer. I didn't recognize it at first but then I looked at a video of it and it was eerie how close it was.

And if it were on the Daily News back page, it would have been The Miracle on E 68th Street (if it were my old junior high school.) Because they're trying to sell newspapers.

I've posted things responding to folks thoughts on the recruiting and other threads -and those conveniently don't get approved. So makes me look bad. It's a joke.
