UNCW/Duke NCAA game thread(man that feels good!)
Thanks TribePride91!

The great thing about the CAA is that we know the majority of fans always support each other when it comes to successful OOC and post season play. I have to imagine the way Coach Keatts has planned this thing out we will likely see some better OOC play next season. My only fear is those schools won't want to schedule is now.

What I'd love to see is a Clemson at UNCW matchup and vice versa. Two young coaches well known in the program going at it with very different approaches. That would be epic.

"Your team is really cute trying to hang on here."

I know every fan base has their bad apples but it seems like most Duke fans are just solidly in the douche category.

Your dookies buddy is very typical of the sort that become hangers-on (dingleberry) fans of the tar holes & dookies. So many of those types did not darken the door of any school other than the time they spent in jr high or high school much less be alums of either school. But go to any state and you'll find it has dingleberries for their university sports teams. Screw 'em.

Agree. He's one of us. He even does a great job of limiting his Syracuse leanings these days.

In all fairness, I'm partial to Carolina, but it's UNCW SEAHAWKS first and foremost, 24/7 and 365 days a year.

thanks Proff, Wife is alum, and season tickets for 8 years, i've paid my dues. I'd be sitting next to 33 if i could ever get back down to Wilmington. Just climbed another level at work, one or two more and face time won't matter so much we can make the move back! In regards to Cuse, there is a time and a place and it's not on these boards. But P.S they didn't deserve to get in!

I recorded the game and watched the 2nd half again. Keatts should have gone zone a little and backed off the press. The guards went right though it,drove the ball and Plumlee dunked the ball repeatedly. Not rocket science but UNCW wanted a fast game. Duke was just better at playing fast.

I agree that some zone would have helped us in many games. Keatts stated he only plays a matchup zone and didn't have the time get a team of transfers and freshmen in a position to play it well.

water under the bridge.

If that's the case I would expect we'll see the Seahawks playing some matchup zone next year.

I agree, I understand the press is the style of play but when it is failing miserably try something different. A little zone likely meant we could also avoid fouling Allen thirty feet from the basket which essentially gave them an automatic two each time he was at the line. Silly fouls have cost us all year and you can't do that against Duke.

It's not official yet, but my sources say from UNCW.

Location of refs has nothing to do with it. NCAAT refs protect Duke. As long as Coach K is at Duke, Duke will get calls.

Some crews call games tighter than others. This refs called things very tight especially on our end. I don't think it had much to do with duke because we had other games where refs did the same, the ecu games comes to mind

Sure, but you can guarantee that if you play physical defense, Coach K's teams are going to benefit from the refs. It's a given for them. It's not a given ecu or any other school would benefit. That's the difference.

RE: UNCW/Duke NCAA game thread(man that feels good!)
Nothing to feel too bad about...we took it to them and they made adjustments. Fouls were too much and they really stuck it to us (refs). UNCW showed everybody what we can do. Now we have to make the next step. And, we should provided that we get more down low. I feel that if Gettys got one to go early, he would have been that guy to give us a presence. Marcus couldn't get going today but will help us. Not sure why Ogbodo didn't at least get a look. Cacok is going to be good in time and needs to develop a J to get more 4 minutes. Kid is a beast. UNCW has a very good program now but it's time to move forward. It's now or never.

It was a completely different game when CJ was in. Plumber was limited and CJ was the basically the only one rebounding inside for quite some time.
