Wow, he wasn't THAT good to have a big school like that want to pick him up...

Assume this comment is a joke. That said, Rutgers did beat Howard last year. Sigh...

For a brief moment I had Gettys and Gusti (Hofstra) confused, I was going to start dancing. It was fun while it lasted.

Gettys is an oaf. He's a big oaf though. He'll get minutes at Rutgers and will play professionally somewhere. You can't find people that big with a decent shot.

Not a transfer but UNCW's Trey Grundy was dismissed from the team.

Grundy was a three-star recruit.

One time 4 star, 6'7" PF Alex Murphy,. who started his career at Duke, then transferred to Florida, was granted a 6th year medical redshirt by the NCAA, and has now landed at Northeastern as an immediately eligible, grad student. Will bring some replacement help to them, if he can avoid the injury bug. Nice pick-up. Canyon Barry bails from CofC to FL, and Murphy bails from FL to Northeastern.

Younger brother, Tomas Murphy, a '17 3 star 6'9" PF, committed to Northeastern last month.

This sounds like a TFitz/BFitz situation. Hopefully, AMurph is not as good as BFitz was for us.

RE: College Transfers
Saw Murphy during his freshman year at Duke. Extremely talented player that most thought would eventually be a star there. I think he encountered a lot of bad luck between injuries and some of Duke's excellent recruits in 2013, which kept him off the court - with some of their recruits for 2014, I think he realized he probably wouldn't get much playing time and left for Florida where things didn't really pan out for him. If he stays healthy, this could be a huge pickup for Northeastern.

College Transfers
Pure speculation on my part, but have been watching how Tribe recruit Richard Washington's Wake Forest start has played out. He has only seen the floor in 4 early games for a total of 8 minutes in their 8 games to date. Redshirt burned and Wake now appears to be settled into a rotation of 9 players with only 1 senior in that group who essentially plays another position. Unless several injuries, it doesn't appear Washington will get an opportunity with Manning. Wake has signed two higher rated players at his same position in their next class, so, not much opening for playing time in the next year either. Can't help but wonder if he'll look to transfer, and if the Tribe connection with Barnes and Lowenhaupt would still be a factor to come back home. If Mike Schlotman chooses to not return his 5th year, there would be an opening. Just saying....

W&M doesn't have to honor the 5th year if he's got his degree, right? Not saying they should move on, just that I think they could.

RE: College Transfers
There's a long thread way back about Nate Loehrke and not honoring a 5th year scholarship. I think technically every scholarship is year to year, but taking advantage of that is a real stain on a program. If he doesn't factor into our rotation, then it is probably better for the team for Schlotman to move on, but I wouldn't want the basketball coaches to decide that.

RE: College Transfers
My personal feeling is that if a player has been around for 4 years and has a degree the school doesn't owe him anything beyond that.

My guess is that they will honor Michael's decision to stay or go. I think he sees the writing on the wall though. I believe that he ultimately leaves for a school closer to home that has his grad program and where he can play/start.

Tough seeing Hunter in that list.

A couple of interesting transfers:

Isaac Copeland, 6'9" 220 PF, Georgetown Jr, 5 star recruit who made Big East All Freshman, then regressed his sophomore year, and again to start this year. Bright, very athletic kid. Don't know if he'd qualify academically, but did have UVA interest out of HS. Georgetown may have used him out of position at wing. Would certainly see a lot of minutes for us, but assume he'd only have one year eligibility left after the midyear transfer (so a lone second semester next year.) He is from NC, so, closer to home.

Camron Justice, 6'2" G, Vanderbilt Soph, 3 star recruit. 3rd all time scorer in Kentucky HS history. Seems like a case of didn't fit in the system of new coach looking for penetrators, and recruited over. Certainly fits our system of 3 pt shooters. I thought we would have been involved with his recruitment in HS, to follow the Omar/Jack pipeline, but his recruitment pool moved above us at that time. Again, not sure how the remaining eligibility would work, since mid-semester and has already seen soph minutes.

Would be a very, very nice get with either, and/or both, players, but we only have the one schollie available for this spring semester. Second one not available until the fall.

Don't see us being on the radar of 6'11" C Harry Froling or 6'11" C Yancuba Sima, for either side.
