Both teams have gathered for a prayer on the first-base line.

Really scary moment there...ULM catcher Dalton Todd waved to the crowd as he was brought off the field on a stretcher.

Really have to feel bad for Little Rock and ULM who not only lost home series because of events they can't control, but then got swept to boot. essentially, it's like they got swept at home.

Texas State gets a really big break out of it, with a great chance to start league play 6-0 with a bad App State team heading to San Marcos next week.

Georgia State remains impossible to read. Have only played two games away from home, and open at home next week against AState league wise. Are they actually decent, or is there record a product of playing a bunch of bad teams at home?

RE: Baseball: Weekend conference series 3-11 to 3-13. Blame the weather (and the flu)
Hopefully Coastal has gotten out of the slump. Split a mid-week series with Wake Forest 1-1 (0-11, 7-6), then went 3-1 vs UNCG 1-1 (2-4, 7-4) and Illinois 2-0 (10-4, 12-4) this weekend for a 4-2 week.

We will finally start regular 3 game series this weekend at Longwood (RPI 71) as we begin conference play. We also have some serious mid-week games coming up vs UNCW (109) this week, CofC (1) next week, The Citadel (165), SC (6), CofC (1), UNC (2), CofC (1), UNCW (109). Current Warren Nolan RPI in parentheses, I know it isn't perfect and it is still early but gives some indication of team strength. We already lost to CofC earlier this year 9-4 and had a game vs UNCW cancelled due to rain.

He was hit in the throat by a pitch and taken to the hospital. Later word was that he was okay and returned to TXST/hotel? to go home with the team.

Yikes... was this an odd bounce off the bat?

I didn't see it. I was following the game via stats and twitter. I started posting the tweets on page 6 of this thread.

I'll ask our beat writer if he knows and try to get back with info.

Not that it would have mattered, but GS was the beneficiary of an atrocious call in Game 2. App would have had bases loaded, and ump at first called an out when GS fielder was clearly off the bag. In a two run game, you never know when a base hit makes the difference.
