Bassey is a stud and they should go to him as much as possible, they have no other efficient scorers. Bearden is the only other one that resembles one. They have nothing that resembles a bench.
If Hollingsworth returns to last years form; him, Bassey, and Bearden can lead them to victory against a lot of teams. If Hollingsworth has played like he has over the course of this season, they could lose to anyone.
This is a take that I can mostly agree with. Hollingsworth has underperformed so far this year. Bassey is a stud and needs more touches. Bench is non-existent. Bearden has been excellent since he got his head right. Only point I’ll add is that Josh Anderson has been really good for us this year. He has length and athletic ability that not many players in the country can match up with. He is a reliable jump shot away from being CUSA Player of the Year and a 1st round draft pick.
The biggest downfall with this WKU team is a lack of shooting. With Bearden and Anderson’s slashing ability plus Bassey in the post there are open looks to be had. We don’t have he shooters to make teams pay for packing it in. Savage is streaky. When he makes shots we’re hard to guard. He’s pretty much the only outside threat.
Anderson is a good player. He just can't shoot a lick. Our 2point defense is incredible (43%-5th in the country) and yesterday you guys made a ton of tough shots inside the arc (53%) while we couldnt make anything inside the arc or at the free throw line. I hope if we meet again, Jones goes with more of the 1-3-1 to clog the paint and force you to shoot from outside. Also, hopefully Ezikpe gets healthy as he really bothered Bassey in the first game.
To our credit, you just described our strengths. We are very hard to score on inside the arc. We make teams make shots to beat us. Green did that yesterday. We always shoot a high % of 2’s because of a combo of Bassey’s efficiency, Bearden and Anderson’s slashing, and Hollingsworth’s midrange jumpers. Our guys make a lot of tough shots. Outside shooting is hit or miss, but with this team the tale of the tape is turnovers. We are an insanely efficient offensive team when we do not turn it over. When we do, we become very beatable.

You have a 51% shooting percentage on 2 point shots and give up 47%. OTOH, we are terrible inside (46%), but give typically give up nothing (42%).

WOW! I never saw that before. That was great. What year was that?

It's certainly looking that way, but it's not over until it's over.
It does look like its over. You can substitute your QB with a dry leaf and we still won't win this game. This ODU team is lost like a fly in the basement.
one of the trips I always look forward to and especially with warm weather. Long drive but worth it because the bay has some of the best fishing on the Atlantic coast. One of the cleanest boardwalks also. While we didnt get to spend much time in Norfolk on this trip. It's a very interesting city to visit and a great place (along with the beach) for a conference basketball tourney where fans are there for 3 to 4 days. If Western and ODU are not sharing a conference....
this trip is what I will miss most
