Ten conference tournaments complete- only one #1 seed (Chattanooga) has won their conference tourney. Does mean several more midmajors will play in either the NCAA or NIT.

Sounds like the nit will be mid major tournament contest of regular season champs.

Let's make it into the NCAA as we will be seeded higher than 9 teams for sure.

None, and I mean NONE, of the team's you named were likely to lose to any of the defeated champs except St. Mary's and Wichita State. And the likelihood is that those two would be seeded in a place to play Kansas, UNC, or KY in the first round is unlikely anyway.

Just examples. When the better teams lose in the conference tournaments, it makes the jobs of the top tier that much easier.

Make no mistake about it, although the lowest seeds will have a lot of automatic bids from upsets in conference tournaments, the top 2/3rd of the NIT tournament seeds will be very, very good teams, and for the most part will be from the top conferences.

The upsets are really making the NIT field stronger in a lot of ways. Strongest teams from the lower conferences, and because upsets are stealing a few more At Large bids from the top conferences, those teams knocked off the NCAA bubble end up in the NIT.
